dnoblett
Firstly there are two primary basis to file.Based on 3 years residency while married to same US Citizen the entire 3 years. (Requires added documents to prove this)Or based on 5 years residency.Pinned at top of this forum are guides: http://candleforlove.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=31260 Also study some of the threads in this forum: http://candleforlove.com/forums/index.php?showforum=37 USCIS: http://www.uscis.gov/portal/site/uscis/menuitem.eb1d4c2a3e5b9ac89243c6a7543f6d1a/?vgnextoid=d84d6811264a3210VgnVCM100000b92ca60aRCRD&vgnextchannel=d84d6811264a3210VgnVCM100000b92ca60aRCRD Study Guides: http://www.uscis.gov/portal/site/uscis/menuitem.749cabd81f5ffc8fba713d10526e0aa0/?vgnextoid=f472639cf4b6a210VgnVCM100000082ca60aRCRD&vgnextchannel=5efcebb7d4ff8210VgnVCM10000025e6a00aRCRD Documents needed: http://www.uscis.gov/files/article/attachments.pdf Link to comment
pokie
3 years? I thought you can apply for the citizenship after the first green card period which is 2 years?? Link to comment
pokie
Or what should I do when my first green card expired, renew another one? Link to comment
Kyle
If you have a two year green card, you'll need to remove conditions and get a 10 yr card. Your spouse can start the naturalization process around 3 years of continual residency in the US. I believe he/she can can start applying for naturalization 90 days prior to the 3 year mark Link to comment

dnoblett
3 years? I thought you can apply for the citizenship after the first green card period which is 2 years??Three years... If you have a 2 year conditional card, you need to first apply to remove the conditions by filing an I-751 and all the evidence of still living together with spouse. Then 1 year after filing to remove conditions you can then file an N-400 for citizenship. By the way,is it "easy" to get a 10-year green card?? Not hard at all. I would start with this guide:http://candleforlove...showtopic=29296 http://www.visajourn...ontent/751guidehttp://www.visajourn...conditions.html Or what should I do when my first green card expired, renew another one?Not renewing, you file an I-751 to remove conditions. The N-400 can be filed within 90 days prior to 3 year anniversary of residency, about 1 year after you filed that I-751.. Period of time visiting China will have no effect on this since it was less than 6 months. In my wife's case she took a year to decide on filing the N-400 Edited May 1, 2012 by dnoblett (see edit history) Link to comment
