Good heavens, I don't need government. Shut 'em down for good! All they do is take my hard earned money.

Can anyone here fix Lao Po and daughter up with a counterfeit green card?

OH...without government it won't matter!

Well.....in my dreams............................................

Interesting article, basically you could still process through USCIS and NVC but will hit roadblock at consulate as interviews and visa's would be put on hold.

I think one of the hiccups they mention is background checks at USCIS could disrupt some people in that stage.

Yes, USCIS is paid for by the fees paid by applicants, and petitioners so should not be affected by a shutdown, NVC on the other hand is part of DOS, so may be affected though.

A short (maybe two week shut down) will inconvenience a few people, but most won't even notice.

What does your wife think about it?

She hasn't noticed, or at least she hasn't said anything. If I bring it up she'll just go on a rant about the government taking all her money and giving it to people who don't deserve it. And, of course once she gets a good mad going, she ends up making me the target just because I'm near.

Oh how I can relate!

I hear tell they made a deal so the shutdown is off.

From the NY Times

Lawmakers reached a last-minute budget deal Friday night, a

Democratic source close to the negotiations said, averting a

government shutdown shortly before a midnight deadline that

would have shuttered federal facilities and forced hundreds

of thousands of workers to be furloughed without pay.
