Guest Tony n Terrific
The History Channel has been airing a show called America the story of us. It starts with the early colonial period in the 1600s up to present day. I have been watching this program and it is well worth watching. It shows how Immigrant pride and determination built a wilderness into a Super Continent. http://www.history.com/shows/america-the-story-of-us Link to comment
yemmie
Yes, I have been watching it as well. I agree it is well done. The only thing I regret is that it does not delve much into the philosophical underpinnings of the American system of government: Universal Rights of Man - not rule by Divine right Natural Law property rights John Locke, Rousseau, Montesquieu (sp?) Declaration of Independence U.S. Constitution Separation of Powers, checks and balances Judicial Review etc. It is well worth watching, but for those who don't already know these things, it does little to inform. Yuanyang
I really enjoyed the ones I've seen so far. The show is careful to include for example all races involved in the Revolutionary War and in other endeavors that quite frankly I was unaware of. Link to comment
