tonado
I had to remove my telephone number from Google.-------------------------------------------------------------------You have to read this!!! this is freaky if not scary!!! Anybody can search for your home address and name just with your phonenumber now thru google.com, this is messed up. You have to search throughEnglish Google. Will not work in other language support Google. I tried this. It didn't work for my cell phone and for some people's homenumber but it certainly worked for other people's number I tried. It didbrought up their name and address, plus provides a map showing the locationof their house. Read below for instructions to block google from displayingyour name & address. Google has implemented a new feature wherein you can type someone'stelephone number into the search bar and hit enter and then you will begiven a map to their house. Before forwarding this, I tested it by typingsome phone numbers I know in google.com and when I clicked on the MapQuestlink, it actually mapped out where they live. Quite scary. Please look upyour own number. Read below for details. Think about it--if a child, singleperson, ANYONE gives out his/her phone number, someone can actually now lookit up to find out where he/she lives. The safety issues are obvious, andalarming. This is not a hoax; Mapquest will put a star on your house on yourstreet. In order to test whether your phone number is mapped, go to:http://www.google.com/ Type your phone number in the search bar with dashes (i.e. 555-555-1212)(dashes ¬ spaces very important) and hit enter. This will divulge your nameand address. You will see a link option to the right for Mapquest(click onit), which will use the address to provide a map to your home or place ofbusiness. If you want to BLOCK Google from divulging your privateinformation, simply click on the telephone icon next to your phone number. Iremoved my name, but it takes 48-hours. If you are unlisted in the phonebook, you might not be in there, but it is a good idea just to check. Link to comment

AZwolfman
Yes, I have used this and similar lookups for quite some time whenever I want to find out who is calling me with "unknown" caller ID. Google is not the only one who provides this. Link to comment
se_lang
No not unlisted, you want unpublished there is a difference, unlisted only keeps you out of phone book not 411, unpublished means nobody can get your number. Link to comment
Bobby
Try this: http://www.theultimates.com/ I've used it a few times... not only to find out who was calling me over and over and over again, but to help track down a guy who stole over $700 from a friend of mine. Yes, I can see how things like this could be upsetting. But this kind of reminds me of how my college newspaper would publish a yearly "expose" of all of the professors' and administrators' salaries. It always caused a huge uproar, especially from the newer prof's who, for some reason, didn't realize that they are state employees. By law, all state employee pay information is publicly available (on the 2nd floor of the library, to be precise). It always amazes me when someone learns about something that's been there forever, and is generally, public knowledge (i.e. Greenville County Tax information) Next thing you know, someone's going to "expose" the fact that I can find out the temperature in someone's home town! ) Link to comment
Eric&Yuhui
what's the big deal about this? If you know a person's last name and the county they live in ( if they are homeowner ) , or just an address in that county , go to the county's property appraiser website.. and you'll know everything..This is public records.Chill out.
