ACH at 2 or 3 o'clock

Recommended Posts

Is ACH (Petitioner Hour) Mondays at 2 o'clock or 3 o'clock. Seem to find conflicting information on GUZs website. From the info I've read on CFL it should be 3 o'clock, but I just want to make sure it hasn't changed recently. Or is it split one for immigrant visas and one for non-immigrant visas?

First Link says 2 o'clock (Question #5)

U.S. Citizen petitioners who would like general information on the Immigrant Visa process in Guangzhou may attend an information session hosted by Consular Officers on Mondays at 2:00pm. The purpose of these sessions is to address frequently asked questions and provide you with a better understanding of the process.

American Citizen Hour

American citizens are not permitted to accompany NIV applicants (friends, relatives, employees, etc.) to their interview. Instead, if they have general non-immigrant visa questions, they are encouraged to speak to an officer during American citizen hour, which is held each Monday afternoon from 3:00 - 4:00 PM in the NIV waiting room. Please note that specific case information cannot be shared nor can a case be pre-adjudicated.

On a side note, it seems posts from USCONGUZ that they don't want us going to ACH just to "report in" or have them review our files for preparedness.

"We've noticed that a lot of petitioners have recently been coming in to Petitioner Hour at the Consulate mostly so that officers will make a note in their case that they appeared.

In the event that people are doing this in the hope that it will increase the chances that their case will be approved--let's be clear that it really makes no difference at all if petitioners come to Petitioner Hour."

There are 2 different hours because there are two different visa sections.

IV UNIT which handles K-Visas and IR/CR Visas.

NIV Unit which handles visitors/Student/Business NON-Immigrant Visas.

You want to be there before 2:00PM to speak to someone in the IMMIGRANT visa Unit.

U.S. citizen petitioner hour moving to Monday

Starting on July 23, 2007, U.S. citizen petitioner hour will be held on Mondays, rather than Fridays.  Petitioner hours will take place each Monday from 14:30 to 15:30pm. We recommend that you arrive at the consulate around 14:00 in order to go through security check procedures. At 14:30, we will stop admitting petitioners into the Immigrant Visa waiting room and will promptly begin the session at that time.

On average... you were right :P

yes, but they say to arrive around 2pm... I recall someone saying they were turned away for arriving too close to the start... so don't really go by the start!

As to GUZ's comments about attending; I would take that as meaning that many go to it for no really helpful reason but they are caught up in handling all of them... so most don't need to go. Just use some common sense based on your case needs or issues.
