Another link: http://www.accuverify.com/faq.html I just filed my tax return. How long should I wait before I request tax return transcript? If you e-filed allow about 8-21 days, if you mailed in your return allow about eight weeks for the IRS to process your tax return. If you are due a refund wait until you receive your refund before requesting your tax return transcript. If there is a problem with your return it may take longer for it to become available. I'm not sure that my "experience" is normal - but we signed and sent off our tax returns on 20 Feb, I at the same time filled out a request for the transcript. I sent the Tax return on Friday - and held the request for a transcript a week - and sent it off. The completed transcript arrived back in my hands in about 8-10 days -- all told about 20 days from the time I sent in the Tax for 2008. I didn't know any better so the way I sequenced the request was to ensure it was there after the Tax Return arrived. Since I was early in Feb - I didn't think the processing time would be that great. FYI - I filed at the Fresno Center. Again, 20 days from start to finish --- but I only have a sample of one year. Edited September 21, 2009 by 2mike&jin (see edit history) Link to comment
NewDay2006
I wouldn't worry about the tax transcripts you send as long as they are the last 1-3 years. The current year is not required since many people will file taxes as late as September or October. They just want 1-3 years tax records. Link to comment

But I would say, Transcripts are better....oops... I just looked and he was talking about this year. ... Just the same, I have sent copies fo the tax returns and they worked fine.
