Sam and Fen
I am planning on taking the wifey to China town in Flushing, NY this Sunday. For shopping I have heard the HK market is very good. Any recommendations for restaurants? She likes "Guangdong" food. Thanks. Link to comment
george lee
sam, your wife would love flushing. it has a mix of korean, indian, taiwan, vietnam, sichuang, malysian, more selections then nyc chinatown. there is a buffet on main street. my favorite is the shabu shabu on 39ave off main street. i may be in flushing, maybe we can hook up. some links google, chinatown flushing http://queens.about.com/cs/neighborhoods/a..._flushing_3.htm http://www.yelp.com/list/flushing-the-best...natown-flushing http://newyork.seriouseats.com/2008/07/new...queens-nyc.html http://www.aczoom.com/cms/albums/travel/ne...hings-chinatown Link to comment

Sam and Fen
Why would anyone want to live in a town called 'flushing'? Flushing, Queens, is a Dutch name, corresponding to the city of Vlissingen in the Netherlands. ¡°What do you think of Flushing, New York?¡± ¡°I think it would be a good idea.¡± Link to comment
Sam and Fen
Took the wifey down to Flushing yesterday and she was thrilled. She had some "shoy" milk at one of the street vendors and we had dinner at "Guangzhou Restaurant". Authentic Guangdong food, put a big smile on her face. We bought groceries from the Hong Kong market, not very expensive and oh they also had rabbit meat. Link to comment

HongKong2LA
We're going to check out the Chinese New Year festivities at the park here in Torrance today. Should be fun. Link to comment
dnoblett
We had a fun afternoon down in Philadelphia Chinatown, it is right ar the city center of Philadelphia, not hard to reach, and adequate parking, expect to pay $15 - $18 to park for the day. Plenty of gift shops, restaurants, and several markets. One gift shop that stands out is Shanghai Bazaar at 1016 Race St, the place is not your typical Chinese import gift shop, the place has a much more cultural feel, with lots of unique items focused on cultural learning. Reviews are for the most part highly rated, the few negative reviews had to do with people buying, and then trying to return something, they have a no return policy, so don't buy expecting to be able to return. http://maps.google.c...872746431971905 http://www.insiderpa...ar-philadelphia We had a late lunch at the Empress Garden Restaurant http://c1.urbns.pn/w/s/fm/alLFqUe2iJJoPs-640m.jpg http://maps.google.com/maps/place?cid=17257507965287866814&q=Empress+Garden+Inc&gl=us&dtab=5&sll=39.953446,-75.154622&sspn=0.017108,0.032015&hl=&ie=UTF8&ll=39.955297,-75.157921&spn=0,0&z=18 Looks to be rated highly, my wife is a critic and she liked the food) Edited January 31, 2011 by dnoblett (see edit history) Link to comment
dnoblett
New member Rictodd posted this. St. Louis had a China Town until thge old Busch Stadium was built around thast spot. It migrated to two diferent areas, both near the major universities in the area. Olive Road between I-170 and Hanley Road, has nost of the Chinese restaurants, importers and services in the area. South Grand has a lot of Thai/Viet Namese rstaurants and services in that area. The UCity Loop has an eclectic array of resteraunts and shops, betweeen both of these areas. The preponderance of Chinese areas would be on Olive Road as previously stated, Including St. Louis' Chinese lkanguage weekjly newspaper office.
