I never much liked referring to paperwork by the color. It's confusing, especially when colors change. It seems to have caught on a bit though, as many people refer to the color of a slip to indicate an interview result. I think it more important to refer to the actual result rather than the color. A few of the results are:

 

1. Approval

2. Denial

3. Request for Additional Evidence

 

I always have to go back and check to see what color means what. DavidZ has them pretty well identified in his EasyFAQ.

It changes from time to time. When my wife and I went through the process a white slip was an approval, a blue slip was wanting more evidence and a pink slip came with the blue slip explaining in more detail what they wanted. The only one that's stayed the same is a blue slip.

essentially yes...

 

blue is a request for something more... time, info, evidence, or for additional [administrative] processing or review. Multiple blues are not uncommon.

 

white a denial that nothing more is accepted and the case is being returned to USCIS.

Blue is the color for "need more evidence"
