kgkg
Had an interview yesterday. The immigration officer said she will request a visa number for me immediately. However, I did not see any updates on my I-485 at uscis.gov. Did she forget to do so? How long will it take for my GC to arrive? Sorry, guys, I cannot give you much useful information becasue my mom is a citizen and petitioner. The immigration officer just checked my and my mom's passports and original birth certificate. She did not check other documents before approving my case. It took only 2 minutes. Thank you all for your kind replies during my wait time. Link to comment
Randy W
Thanks, guys! I am sorry that I did not make it clear. My I-130 from my mother (she is a U.S. citizen and live in the U.S.) is approved, and my priority date will become current in June. I will submit my I-485 in June. I am currently working as an H1B temporary worker. My question is whether I can stay in the U.S. after I -485 submission and quit the job. Thanks! This is an area that we don't have any experience with. My guess is that that interview was for the I-130, and not the I-485. Have you had your biometrics taken for the green card? But I would expect you'll get a notice in the mail when card production is actually ordered, and then it'll be a couple of weeks after that. Link to comment
kgkg
Thanks, Randy! My I-130 was already approved years ago. My priority date just became current last year, I took boimetrics 6 months ago and was called in for an interview two days ago. The weird thing is that there is no update online on my I-485. The only time it was updated was when I took boimetrics. Even when they issue the interview notice, my I-485 online shows no update. I guess I have to wait. Link to comment

Typically (in our experience, anyway) the I-130 is approved in the US, and then sent to the consulate, where the applicant would be interviewed some months later before the visa is actually awarded. They would then be awarded a green card automatically when they entered the US. So I'm still guessing that your interview was concerning the I-130, but whatever happens next, you'll be notified in the mail. Don't give too much weight to the online status - they are rarely updated for AOS. Good luck, and Congratulations! Link to comment

kgkg
Update: 6 weeks after my interview, there is no sign of an update, no approval and no rejection. So I called NBC, telling them my I-485 and I-765 were filed together last September, but i still have not received my EAD yet. I asked them to expediate my EAD, and at the same time to reduce their work, why not just give me a green card?!!!!! Does anyone know how much more time should I wait after filing expedited processing? thanks! Thanks, Randy! I will keep you posted about my status. Thanks, Randy!
