A New Start Here in LA

Recommended Posts

Weather: The weather here is hot and dry. I got 3 gifts from LA, one is on my nose, one in my mouth and one on my lip! Now i understand why those chinese supermarkets have herbal tea that would eliminate the internal heat from your body

Restaraunts: We tried California kitchen, in-out burgers, some mexican food. Once a while is fun, but twice a week is awful. I do not like the tips in restaraunts, say at least 15% no matter the service is good or not. We went to chinatown in montreal park today and had some spicy fish...and kunpo chicken. My chinese fellows were surpirised to see my fiance using chopsticks with his left hand and could deal with such hot food! The meal was yummy and very satisfying!

Grocery: Shopping for food in grocery market is my ULTIMOST joy here in the U.S. Very few people around, you have plenty space to choose what you want. Membership cards? I love it...they always tell me on the receipt how much dollars i saved being a member. We went down to Chinatown in montreal park today. The grocery in chinese supermarket seems much more affordable. 79 cents/1b for fresh tomato? 5 pieces of sweet corn for 1 dollar? hum...i got some fancy deal today ;) We always pay about 3 dollars for 1 pound of tomato. Sometimes they have real good discounts....

Cooking at home: I love cooking at home cause i can always eat the food I want and it saves us money too with the same thing we eat..ofcourse...you have to be a good chef

 And you bet...i am good, hehe!

Here are some recipee for you guys!

1. Sweet breakfast pancake: mix flour with 1 egg and water, add some melted icecream ( if you do not have milk), mix them well a little bit think like jelly; heat some butter on the pan, and spread the mixture on it. Leave it on the pan for 1 min, using medium fire and cook the other side. Serve with coffee

2. Hot Red Fish: Get some fish filets, slice it into small pieces. Mix them with salt, egg, pepper. Heat the oil, slowly slide the pieces in to the wok( you can get an asian cooking wok in warehouses here, the bottom is flat but much bigger than a pan). When you see the fish turning into white color, add dried red chilly, water and some green leave veggies. Boil 2 mins, serve with rice

3.Sweet and Sour Crispy Chicken: Cut chicken breasts into slices. Dip them into the mixture of egg and bread crumb. Deep fried them. Make a sauce with veginar and sugar. Stir it well.

4. Hamburgers: The easist thing to make. I learned it from in-out burgers. Buy some grinded beef. Stir it, make a ball in your palm. Spank it on a flat board  , make it flat. Fry it. Put the bread into toaster, so it is crunky. Prepare some lettus, tomato, and a piece of cheese...And this would satisfy your american sweethearts when he misses his home food :o

...............

Right now..just adapting myself here. Reading drivers book and prepare for the written test. Bugging my sweetheart for somewhere he can teach me how to drive, Find a vocational course teaching excel, powerpoint or something, would get enrolled in Nov for a 10 week course. Getting my resume ready...getting married 2 week later in LV..gonna bring some cash down there see if i am lucky with Uncle Sam.

Goals:

1.Get my drivers licence by the end of this year

2.Get a job that would enable my devoted contribution to more shopping malls

3.Saving money to buy somewhere to live. The house prices in LA are so expensive..heard from the news about the big increase in house prices...when will there be a big increase in wages?

Do you gals here have any plans or goals to share????

Sounds like you hit the ground running!!! I am happy for you to be having so much fun.

Please don't "spank" those burgers :o you can just flatten them by hand.

Wow, did you have your drivers license in China? Can you parallel park?

Good luck to you and thanks for the interesting post.

0% poor service

15% for service

30+% for outstanding service

Yanhua,

By all means....please enjoy your time in my city. Our rule? The more money you play with, the more you can win! We are very happy to see so many people leave here with more money than they came with. And, to think you can go home a winner AND all of our state taxes are paid too. It's just amazing.

Okay...if you can't tell, I'm having a little fun with you. Be careful in LV. Our games are addicting like Mah Jong....but they take your money so much faster. Stay away from slot machines and video poker. They beat you every time. Roulette is the easiest game but has the worst odds of winning. Many people say your best luck is in Craps....I still for the life of me can't figure it out. My game is Blackjack. A very simple game but there is much to the strategy. Maybe you can find a casino where they can teach you some games before you play.

Food here in town? Most of it is great. If you like hamburgers, go to Fat Burger on on the Strip (north of the MGM). Just nummy! Best buffet in town is at the Rio (locals' favorite). Shopping? Oh my! Go to Caesar's Forum Shop at Caesar's Palace. When you run out of money shopping, you can always go back to the casino and get more. AND, if you are interested, I can get you very very good, cheap seats to Siegfried and Roy.

Cheers! http://smilies.sofrayt.com/%5E/_950/drunkard.gif

Reading drivers book and prepare for the written test. Bugging my sweetheart for somewhere he can teach me how to drive

Normal life in Southern California is not possible without the use of a car.

Go to the City Of Industry at night. Lots of W-I-D-E streets, and minimal traffic after the late evening. May I make one suggestion though; if you care about domestic tranquility have someone OTHER than your husband teach you how to drive. Anyone but your husband. When my TT comes to LA I'll have her learn how to drive over in the City of Industry but I won't be the one who does the teaching. Passing the written test is easy, the road test is also easy provided that you relax.

Best of luck here in LA.
