Melanie
Have some confusion on this, is the visa good for 90 from the date it was issued? Or 90 from entrance to the US? My dad's fiance recieved her visa dated January 20th, but it will be the middle of February or a bit later before she can come here. How long does it take to get the social security number so they can get the marriage license? Link to comment
Sebastian
1. entrance. if memory serves, she has 6 months from time of issuance to when she must enter. 2. would suggest you wait 2 to 3 weeks, as it takes time for her INFO to get spread across all the gov systems ONCE she's gone through POE. Then, go to a SSA office and get the SSN. If there's any hassle, ask for supervisor, remind them is a K-1 visa, tell them to stop mucking about and learn the regs. Link to comment
georgeandli
The clock on the 90 days starts on arrival in the US. Wait about two weeks after arrival to apply for SSN. Link to comment
