China's New Empire...

Recommended Posts

A long and detailed look at the history of a huge mining project in Papua New Guinea extracting nickel and cobalt to supply China's factories. Although an Australian company had owned the site for many years they gave up hope of ever developing it in a country with almost no modern infrastructure. China took over and in just a few years has done the next-to-impossible in developing the mine.

Both in Asia and Africa, China has been very active in obtaining the raw materials to power their own growth. The countries have benefited by vastly improved infrastructure as well as Chinese built hospitals, schools, etc. There have been persistent complaints that too many of the benefits go to too few people at the top of the food chain in these undeveloped places with the common people gaining very little in exchange for the loss of their irreplaceable natural resources... :)

They should spend a little more money on their own hospitals..... I spent the last 2 weeks in one of their hospitals in a large city, as an outpatient and it was awful there.......I ALSO GOT MY WALLET STOLEN TOO IN THE HOSPITAL!
