heyjimi
For the DS-230,it is asking from the wife for the original marriage certificate, original divorce certificate, original birth....for example, does this mean,we send for the marriage certificate that red booklet one gets for a marriage certificate.?we had these things translated, and it is a booklet,do they mean they want this.,because this is notarized,certified...i am confused, because,i tell the wife,we need the originals, and needs to be notoarized....she tells me will cost 1600 yuan,i think she is also confused, she is maybe thinking they need to be translated...but we already have.......i mean,i can get 4 documents notarized here in usa for about 20.00..... sorry for the stupid questions.thanks for the help Jimi Link to comment
chilton747
Do not send originals. You need the certified copies (white books). Also, for CR1, these are NOT sent with the DS-230 to the NVC. They will go with you to the medical and the hospital will put them with the P4 papers. Link to comment

dnoblett
i dont see DS-230 asking for any documentation, where do you see this ?Correct, NVC handles GUZ differently than other consulates, all NVC requires is the DS-230, all the other documents are brought to the consulate at the time of interview. For certain U.S. Embassies and Consulates General, the National Visa Center (NVC) provides document collection and review, and schedules the cases for interview. The Department of State refers to these embassies and consulates as Appointment Posts. For immigrant visa cases assigned to an Appointment Post, the NVC will collect the fees, affidavit of support, civil documents, and police certificates, as required. When a case is complete, it will be scheduled an appointment for an interview with a consular officer. For all Appointment Posts (except, the Consulate General in Guangzhou, China) the NVC will send an appointment letter to all interested parties (applicant, petitioner, and agent/attorney of record, if applicable) notifying them of the date, time, and location of the interview; and forward the petition to the appropriate embassy/consulate. The Consulate General in Guangzhou, China will send appointment letters for cases assigned to it. http://travel.state.gov/visa/immigrants/info/info_3190.html http://guangzhou.usembassy-china.org.cn/fo...and_packets.htm (Note OF-169 for IV visas) Edited November 30, 2008 by dnoblett (see edit history) Link to comment

mikepellicore
Now I am also confused! When I asked this question before, I was told to follow the instructions with the DS-230, the instructions say to send original copies, they will be returned at the interview. I paid the fee on-line, and then when the fee is posted paid, you download the receipt, and the DS-230 with the instructions. Will they send the GUZ specific instructions by snail mail? We are waiting for the police report from China to send the DS-230. Yizhen is here, so we had trouble obtaining it. Even the instructions from the GUZ website are not very clear. Please help us clear this up before we send all the documents to NVC, Mike & Yizhen Link to comment

george lee
i followed the instruction from this web page, http://travel.state.gov/visa/immigrants/info/info_3190.html, so far i did not get any returns, problems or anything from nvc. i called nvc today and it is processed and sent to GZ, so right now, i guess we are waiting for an appointment schedule day. i also call nvc to confirm what i read on that web page when i was following those steps. i think alot of people are confused about ds-230 and documents part, due to K-1, CR-1, K-2, K-3 routes. to this day, i am still confused but i called nvc to confirm what i read on that web page to be on the safe side. good luck Link to comment
