In a word? Espionage. Other words? Fraud. Intellectual property theft. Etc.

You're a good person. I can tell by your writing. So, you'd do whatever for China....with some exceptions. http://smilies.sofrayt.com/%5E/u/biggrinangel.gif

Hello gentlemen

Yeah, everybody know about the rape of nanking.

But, that is old history, as with the holocaust

If you still resent it after all these years, then boycott japanese products. Can you afford not to enjoy the best and coolest gadgets coming off Japan?

my two cents

First, there are both male and female members or guests on this website.

Second, NO, everybody is not aware of the atrocities committed by the Japanese against the Chinese during those 15 or so years ending in 1945. Many Westerners in fact have never heard of Nanking! Or Unit 731.

I agree with Patrick in that there was an exchange of documention for information. The time to have addressed this issue, knowing very well what happened in China, was then. That did not happen. Yet, I also agree with Dave in that we need to strive for peace even if Japan does not come forward and acknowledge, apologize, and atone for its atrocities. To me, to punish the Japanese citizenry of today for what happened generations earlier, does not lend itself to healing and moving forward. Sometimes, I think, we just need to do all we can to forgive those unimaginable, unforgiveable sins even if those who committed the atrocities against us are unwilling to take ownership. Yes, to ever forget is not wise, but to forgive after 60 or 70 years, as difficult as it may seem, well, maybe its time.

I couldn't agree with you more. The people of Japan are just that, People. They have the same thoughts, feelings and dreams as any of the rest of us. The war crimes commited by their government in the 30s and 40s are no more attrocious than those commited by the US government on native americans in the 1800s or the Germans on the Jews. I don't see anyone here supporting a boycot of Mercedes. The past is done and should never be forgotten but grudges get us no where. Whats important is to learn from the mistakes of the past and use them to help guide us into the future.

The reason why I remember 9.18:

#1. I have to remember it, so I will not see this happen again in human history.

#2. The Chinese has never got an apology from the Japanese government.

#3. The Japanese government is trying to deny the fact that they have committed serious war crimes during the WWII in China. And they are trying to wipe the memories, so they could start something "New".

#4. The Japanese worship the criminals during the war. They worship the very people who have slaughtered tens of thousands Chinese civilians, with the most cruel way in human history.

#5. Not enough people know about the history how the Japanese treated the Chinese during WWII.

Until the Japanese government can face the truth, and face the history there will be no normal relationship between the Chinese and the Japanese.

I don't hate the Japanese. I hate the ones that slaughtered the Chinese, and the ones who still worship them.

Just look at what the Japanese is trying to do lately, you will find that they are very unease again.

"Pearl Harbor" is a perfect Ninja Style attack. And if we stop keeping close eye on them, they will strike again.

I was all the way with you until I got to this point. Can you share more?

What are the Japanese doing now? Whom will they attack again? Us?

Dave:

They are trying to change their Constitution, so they have have Army, which was allowed because the WWII.

They are trying to build Nuclear missles.

They have the largest warship in Asia. They could built many Carriers if they are allowed.

Their budgets on weapon research and other military projects are way more than anyone in Asia, if no in the world.......

They will attack whoever they can. They attacked U.S. when everyone thought it was impossible.
