Melanie
Hi, sorry if this is posted already, but can someone point me to a step by step instructional on what needs to be done after the interview and the move to the US? I know the marriage needs to take place shortly after arrival to the US, but what paperwork needs to be done in what order? Is there somewhere that explains all this in an orderly fashion? Sebastian
A K-1 visa holder is eligible to receive a SSN . Unfortunately, the SSA offices won't have any computerized record of the Resident Alien until 10 to 20 days after the first entry of said Resident Alien at the POE. For some reason, DOS/USCIS/ICE data doesn't immediately flow into the SSA databases, hence the advice to wait 2 weeks. Link to comment

Ya, I thought you could get that done, partially, at the medical examination place. BUT - they'll issue her an international vaccination card, normally referred to as 'the yellow book'. If they don't issue one to her, you can ask to have one made, for an additional small fee. With that in hand, after the medical exam, if there's any more shots she needs, you can get it done at a hospital, almost any hospital, that administers 'those' shots. I went too. Seemed very easy. Just request the shots and the 'yellow book'. All over in no time. Link to comment

TIA yellow book was done in china, right ? 693 is done by a USCIS approved civil surgeon in the USA (unlikely at a hospital) USCIS web site and the FAQS here will show you approved physicians in your locality. I'm not sure if we waited two weeks, but when I took Ying to get her SSN, the lady there said that the INS had yet to updated the files, so instesd she treated Ying's request as a new application for a SSN. She had her card within a week. When she got her card, I was had a chuckle when I saw the last four number of her SSN. My last four is 2866, her's was 2688. Our government never ceases to amaze me.
