mikepellicore
Since my wife has been here in the US since the K-3, will we need a police report for the 15 or so months in the US? and will we need to get a new police report from her city in China? What else can I expect that might be out of the ordinary? Will they require a lot of proof of ongoing relationship? We have family photos, mail, property tax bill, and medical bills paid by my insurance, anything else we might need? Will it be any different because we already have the K-3? I am a little nervous just begining again, thanks Mike & Yizhen Link to comment
dnoblett
Nope, no report for time in the USA, that is handled by name checks, however you will need to get a new one in China, since the one used for K-3 is more than a year old. Note: Present and former residents of the United States should NOT obtain any police certificates covering their residence in the U.S. http://travel.state.gov/visa/immigrants/in...195.html#police Edited November 1, 2008 by dnoblett (see edit history) Link to comment

The only reason a new police report from China would be required is if they did CR-1 in China instead of filing for AOS in the US. Link to comment

I suspect by the time they do interview it will be an IR-1 instead. Link to comment
mikepellicore
It became IR-1 10/28/2008! 12.5 mo. after I-824 approval and second I-130 approval. What about the proof of ongoing relationship?, Mike & Yizhen Edited November 1, 2008 by mikepellicore (see edit history) Link to comment
Sebastian
Mike - proof of ongoing relationship should be an easy one. There's a long list of stuff - check the I-130 instructions again - the list is there. Link to comment
david_dawei
I wouldn't take anything too lightly.. now GUZ is in a position of being asked to issue the 10 year GC... They have nothing to go off of for the last year... so will be interesting to hear what interview questions are... don't be surprised if about US (family members, city she lives in, etc).. I would be doubly prepared honestly. Link to comment
dale7570
imo this is a risky move because if guz denies the visa then the k-3 will become void in 30 days and you will be in trouble. perhaps it would be safer to adjust status over here. if denied in the states there is an appeal process. good luck! mikepellicore
Hello David, Dale, and others, we are not taking this lightly, we are talking about the immigration process? in GUZ? If by some chance we did not get approved, we could still return to the USA and file for AOS in the States? I was well coached here at CFL, and we got the K-3 in 8 months! With your help, we will do the same kind of preperation and get the same outcome. Our biggest problem is we don't have anyone who has done this before to give us any specific guidance, there is no historical data, no list of interview questions, we must be prepared for anything. We will not be taking this lightly! We want "PINK", Mike & Yizhen Link to comment
chilton747
So if I have this right, you are wanting to do the IR1 to circumvent the longer process with the USCIS? If this is not widely done then there must be a reason for it. Link to comment
mikepellicore
It has nothing to do with the length of the process, we like GUZ we have spent several weeks there besides the interview, we thought it be good because we want to return to China to visit our family and we could do it while we were staying in GUZ. Mike & YizhenI understand, but you need to keep in mind that GUZ is not consistent with much of anything. Either way you go you're looking at a 10 year green card and being done. If it was me I'd opt for an interview with USCIS instead of GUZ, only because they are more consistent. As was said if GUZ does not give a pink on the IR-1 interview the K-3 dissolves and puts you an an awkward position. If you're convinced that GUZ is the way to go then go loaded for bear with your relationship evidence. Build lots of it based on your relationship in the US. Photos in the US with friends and family, joint accounts both bank, bills and show joint travel itineraries. The most important is your house title in both names. Link to comment
