amberjack1234
This post is in reference to sever post on the board now, some updates in the life of an old-timer that sometimes is ask for and just some rambling on. Poverty in China:Dam have some of you guys really woke up or what. Some of you very guys once jumped down my throat concerning these very same issues several years ago when I posted some information and supported documentation about these issues. Some of you even stuck the stigma onto me that I was a China basher. Only Dennis came to my rescue and supported me. My advice to you then was that you should do some research and apparently you have and now are seeing the non-tourist version of China. The part that "PROBABLY" 80 percent of the people in china live every day. No I don't have any websites to verify or prove that. What started me on this trek was my wife. I use to think that the whole of China was just as I pictured it on my tourist visits to China. She at the time was callous to the rural/farmers/poor urban people as well. After much research on her part she really opened her eyes and came to me and apologized to me for her ignorance. She has done 180 degree turnaround and now supports the poor people stance in China. She use to turn a def ear and a blind eye to their plight due to the way she was raised. That these people were trash. What brought the issue of poor people in China up was that one day I was working in my flowers, which I like to do, and she came by and says to me: Now don't you just look like a damn Chinese farmer. Well I took her into the house and gave her a nice long talk for about 3-4 hours about poor people and she came away with a new perspective concerning the poor. Things that she was never aware of. She at the time would not even pick up a stick on the walkway that I had left there on purpose to see how long it would stay there. It stayed there for 3 weeks until I moved it. I was working at our business next door and ask her to cut the grass as I was up to my eyeballs in work and her reply was that she did not come 9000 miles to cut grass. Just an example of her attitude at the time. I can tell you that she has changed like nothing that I have ever seen before in my life. She now will not allow me to cut any grass what-so-ever. We have 3 acres of lawn to keep up. While I am on my soap box again let me tell you that my wife has changed form the spoiled brat that she was when she came here (USA) into one of the best wives that I have ever had the pleasure to know. I can tell you that I am not a rich man so I know that she is not patronizing me and keeping me happy for my money. When she first arrived in America I, at time, had serious doubts if we would survive but not only have we survived but our marriage has evolved in one of the happiest one that I have ever known. Going on 9 years now. I am a Christian by faith (Baptist). I do believe in Jesus and that he died on the cross and arose on the third day so that we might have a place in heaven with he and his Father. I don¡¯t go to church much only when the wife ask me to take her. If it was not for that I probably would not go. When she came here she ask me if we could go to church and I told her that I would take her anytime that she wanted to go. So we go about every other Sunday. How a strange thing happened concerning this issue. Her second week in America one of my christen friends called me up and invited she and I to his church. About 30 minutes later he called me back and said that perhaps it wasn¡¯t such a good idea as he did not think that his Pastor would appreciate us coming. I politely told him that it was OOOOkkkk and HAVE NOT SPOKEN TO HIM SINCE. I called sever other pastors in our town and seems that they felt the same way. Now having some very bad feeling and being embarrassed in front of my new wife as I could see tears in her eyes I called the Catholic Church and was told that we were more than welcome to attend service there although they could not pray for us if the need ever arose. We accepted and we have been going there ever since. I wake up in the morning sometimes and she will be out of the bed and on her knees in the doorway praying for me. Sometimes I see her outside on the sidewalk on her kneed praying for our home, she and I. Now I am not trying to paint her as a religious fanatic because she is not but she is a good person. I know that you guys don¡¯t like long post and this one has been too long already so I will stop for now and perhaps write a continuation later.
