my wife recieved her change of status today. my question is this she has a social security card that say's for work only do we have to change it ?

i'm not shure what to do

I'm not sure what you said, but if you're worried because it says "Valid for Work Only with DHS Authorization", no it's not necessary to change it - she is still work authorized (no change there).

 

But some employers prefer to see the SS card without that notation, so you may want to drop by and let them know.

If you mean she got her Green-card..

 

You can visit SSA, and apply for a replacement SSN card without the "With DHS Auth" disclaimer on it.

 

Having an unrestricted SSN card can be useful later, I have seen some state DMV not accept green-card extension letter when removing conditions, but WILL accept the unrestricted SSN card, also in cases of employment, all you need to provide to satisfy the I-9 is Un-Restricted SSN and ID.

 

Lastly SSA advises people to update them anytime immigrations status changes, NON-Resident ---> Resident ---> Citizen. It mostly has to do with SSI

I'd go down to SS office after a couple weeks and apply for a new card.
