I read too much in regards to the pickup of the visa.

Guangzhou is actually mailing my fiancee her visa via EMS.

We received pink on October 15th , and she lives in Foshan so she was informed the Visa would be mailed.

Has anyone heard of them mailing it , apparently they do this way for residents of Guangdong province as EMS will not carry beyond this province.

Yes - that is widely known. EMS will deliver to anywhere in China (actually to about 140 countries worldwide - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Express_mail), but GUZ will only mail to Guangdong.

 

I think someone reported that they were able to get Mr. Yang to pick up the visa for them, and he was able to mail it.

When my hub and I went to pick up our visa last month, we saw a woman there who claimed to pick up for her niece, but was having a hard time to get pass the post office clerk. The clerk said for something this important and confidencial, they insisted that the person should go there in person...

That's what I thought ,too, but apparently a couple of people have gotten around that in a pinch.

 

Best to be cautious.

Foshan is inside of Guangdong province.

The US Consulate in Guangzhou will mail the beneficiary's passport with the visa stamp inside, to anywhere in Guangdong province, via EMS.

 

This is normal for many beneficiaries who reside inside of Guangdong Province.

 

Got an EMS tracking number? She/You can track it online.

 

I think she is lucky - not have to wait around Guangzhou Post Office building !!

 

The 'not outside Guangdong province' is solely limitation by US Consulate/Guangzhou(GUZ) and NOT EMS.

thanks everyone. Just seemed strange to me at first.

I have been holding off on the sale and closing of our condo in Foshan as paranoia has been setting in , guess I'll finish now as the Visa will be in the mail next week!

IIWY, I'd absolutely wait till passport/visa in hand.
