Single Proof Document

Hi again all. Apologies in advance for another question that may have been answered, I tried using the search engine with no luck. Has anyone heard of a 'Single Proof Document'? My SO in China tells me I should have one if we wish to wed. I have never heard of such a thing. Time for bed for me now, but I will check back in tomorrow.

Yes - it verifies that you are eligible for marriage (single) and may be acquired at the consulate in China, or here in the states through the Dept of State.

 

Others can provide better details than I have.

Sometimes known as an 'affadavit of marriageability' . I think of it as a 'proof I am able to wed'.

 

I had mine done at the US Embassy in BeiJing. Dead Easy, one of the easiest documents to procure in this journey.

 

There are other ways to get it done, stateside. Someone else can chime in ?

Yes its an Certificate of Marriagability. You can get it from the Consolate office in China fee is 30 US dollars. Will be in both english and chinese and notorized from the consolate. Just says that you are single and never been married or single and have been legally divorced. If you have been divorced be sure to bring your divorce papers to prove this.

Yep, as others have said, any US consulate, or the US Embassy in China can issue you one.

 

OR

 

You can get this done in the USA and have it authenticated at a Chinese Consulate.

 

You get an affidavit from your state, county clerks office or health department certifying that you are single. You then get your affidavit certified or authenticated here in the USA by your Chinese Consulate in NYC. http://www.china-embassy.org/eng/hzqz/t84229.htm

Aliens to marry a Chinese citizen in China are require to submit: 1) His or her valid passport; 2) A notarized certificate to certify that he or she do not have couple. This document should be notarized in a local Notary Public and Authenticated by Chinese Embassy or Consulate; 3) A statement to declare that he or she do not have lineal or collateral collateral relationship within 3 generations with his fiancee or her fiance. This document should also be notarized in a local Notary Public and Authenticated by Chinese Embassy or Consulate.

This will save you from having to deal with this in China, if you dont have time to travel to and visit a US consulate.
