"Without money you are nothing..."

I will add one comment about what you might SEE in China. If I had to rely on what I had seen in China I would be pretty limited. I have seen very small towns in Hunan in which the houses looked very old and poor. I have been inside a few of those and my perceptions were exactly right. But the great majority of what I have SEEN was by watching Chinese TV and specifically Hunan TV which does a lot of work in the countryside showing how many rural people really live... :sosad: Their homes, schools, hospitals, workplaces...It is often not a pretty picture...

Roger, I know you have a burden for the poor of the world, and it seems that you think they are victims. There are indeed poor in every country in the world. So, what is the solution? Would you suggest that the government create programs for them so that they can have money, food, and an education? If so, where does that money come from? Taxes perhaps?

I have no idea where you came up with that Jesse... I can't solve China's problems. I only hope China's leaders can find the compassion and common sense to take care of all their people... :(

Roger, in a perfect world, there would be no poor. A government doesn't invent money, but gets it from the people who work and pay taxes. Any program to rescue people from hardship costs money. Just how do you finance such an effort?

Rog Rog Rog...You should know by now that if someone doesn't actually SEE something with their own eyes in China it obviously doesn't exist. After all, in a country the geographical size of China with a population of 1.3 billion, how hard can it be to have seen every square inch and every single person? :(

Well since you are now paying taxes in America and China you must be more than willing to do your part and I'm sure the poor thank you very much... :(

Some see other people's hardship and say "What can we do to help them." Some see it and say "Why even try?"

Socialism just doesn't work Roger. Spreading the wealth around by taking from the rich and giving to the poor sounds like a nice thing to do, but in the end, it destroys the very thing a nation tries to do; things like creating jobs, and growth. Remove the incentive for business by raising taxes, and you lose jobs. When you lose jobs, people suffer.

The point is that taking care of the poor takes more than just compassion. It takes cold hard cash. I'm sure you're happy with the small amount of taxes you pay in China. Would you rather pay the tax rates you pay in the USA for that compassion?

Well Jesse is good hearted enough to be paying income taxes in both countries... :smoker: When I retire to China I will have no income there so will only pay US income taxes...

What Dave and Roger said. It is nice of you to spread your wealth around to so many countries, but they may not appreciate it the way you expect.

Uh, Jesse, tell party members that Socialism doesn't work for the PRC.

And tell that to the elderly receiving SS and Medicare benefits to get by and stay alive in this country.

Sorry for the minor correction, Dave, but it's 1.3 billion. You're not dyslexic when it comes to numbers, are you. :(

Don't forget to tell the IRS. They take MUCH more from the rich than they do the poor, even on a percentage basis, no matter WHO is in office.

Hand waving and generalities just really don't convince a whole lot of people of anything
