izus
We arrived in plenty of time at the Orlando service center or whatever it is called. Our names were called and we walked into the back room for our interview. Wo de tai tai said good morning to the woman who called our names and we got back a blank look and she said nothing. We get back to her desk and sit down and was told to stand back up and raise your right hand. Do you swear to tell the truth? Wo de TaiTai; Yes¡ me; Yes¡ ¡°I mean I do¡± I said. "So where did you 2 meet" she said. I said ¡°internet¡±. She gave an obvious ¡°humph¡± breathing threw her nose, at this point I knew we were in trouble. Her lips didn¡¯t unglue from the pursed position they were in for the rest of the interview. For some reason she was very angry at us. Let me see your visa approval letter she said, I said I don¡¯t know if we have that with us. TaiTai said that was not on the list of items that were asked for. She said well let me see the original i-94 I said we don¡¯t have that either, because we went back to China in May and they took it, I said I can show you the AP approval letter. She said I don¡¯t need to see that. How long have you been married? I said 2 years, another ¡°humph¡± Let me see your W2 forms for the last 2 years and your employment letter. Got it¡ here you are. Then she said ok give me everything you have to prove she lives with you for the last 2 years. I said we have health insurance, car insurance, bank accounts she said is that it? for 2 years thats all you have? how about rent. I said we don¡¯t rent and I purchased the home before she arrived I would have to complete another closing package and pay another 6000 in order to get her name on the mortgage. TaiTai was getting nervous at this point and she said I have plenty of nice pictures for you to see with dates to show. The woman said I don¡¯t need to see your pictures. I said to her ¡°what other items would you like to see than¡± she said, don¡¯t talk to me in that tone of voice. I said I¡¯m not talking to you in any tone of voice I just want to know what we need to bring the next time we come. She said who said you are going to come back. Do you have any other questions? She said something like you should receive your green card in the mail after the check has been approved. i said Check? She said don¡¯t ask me when you will receive the card and it¡¯s our business when this gets approved. She handed TaiTai back her social security and kept her EAD.I think we are going to need to make another info pass appointment, I was just happy we got out of there alive. So I guess it¡¯s good news. Randy W
The "check" would be the FBI background check. But they are not supposed to be waiting for that anymore, figuring that they can always rescind the green card if she turns out to be a subversive. So you may be seeing the green card by the end of the year or sooner. We are launching our 2nd inquiry this year, since we've been told it's sitting on someone's desk waiting to be signed off. Sorry Guz to hear this. I noticed the same thing. When we went I noticed how unemotional they are and detached and they arent friendly at all. Luckily for us we were able to make our officer laugh and that helped a bit. Hopefully its a speedy GC! Link to comment

Sebastian
Yuk - what a cluster f||ck. AT least Pearl dinna say 'you are denied'. I was searching through Threadbare's postings, to see if he went to same city, had same IO, but I gave up after reading 4 of his long posts. I can see how the following might go - You: We heard how all IO are stressed with the paperwork, so we thought to bring you a tin of chocolate brownies. Pearl: Oh ! thank you ! (you then pass over the tin of exlax-imbued chocolate brownies, do the interview, leave, and chaos ensues in the afternoon as she shares them with her colleagues) But I digress... At least you got out of there without the word 'denied' used in a sentence. I am kinda pissed off , though - them's our tax dollars at work. Must we pay extra for decent treatment? On a different note - would it be hard to get a vendor's lien on the title of the house, in her name? At least her name would be in there (along with the mortgage holder), without putting her ON the mortgage? Texas allows this - I can't guess for Florida. Randy W
I didn't notice that the first time I read your post - your wife won't have any US gov't-issued I'd until the green card arrives - let's hope it's soon. Link to comment

yuehan123
Although the details of our AOS interview escape me just now, I recall that we both had to sign a document (letter) indicating when the 10 year GC application period commenced. We were given a copy of that letter. Did you sign one and did you get a copy? In addition, it is customary to stamp the passport. Was your wife's passport stamped? Your post seems to lack some of the details that, at least to me, are more critical than her harummping or your tone of voice, or lack of it..... Presuming those two things occurred why are you talking about an InfoPass appointment? At any rate, she said 'you'll get the GC in the mail, right? They also took my wife's I-94 and EAD. This has been reported here regularly and should be considered normal. Link to comment
izus
were they suppose to stamp her chinese passport with something? unless she did this without us knowing.... Edited August 6, 2008 by izus (see edit history) Link to comment
scooby94
were they suppose to stamp her chinese passport with something? unless she did this without us knowing....They never took our i-94 nor her EAD, and they didnt stamp her passport with anything. Just gave us a piece of paper stating that we past and should receive our GC in few weeks. Maybe its different per states...dont know...just speculating. Link to comment
Randy W
Yes - very different. In general, there will NOT be a letter about the 10 year card, you will NOT get a passport stamp, and the EAD card will NOT be taken. Some IO's DO take the EAD and leave the applicant without ANY federal identification - and without the stamp. Edited August 6, 2008 by Randy W (see edit history) Link to comment
jim_julian
Sounds to me like she got approved, Bill. Congrats. Link to comment
shaffej7070
were they suppose to stamp her chinese passport with something? unless she did this without us knowing.... The IO detached the I-94 on her passport and stamped on one of the pages the temporary I-551 stamp(2-year conditional). I don't know if the same applies to the 10-year GC. Link to comment
