dnoblett Posted July 28, 2008 Report Share Posted July 28, 2008 (edited) Many states require EAD or Green-card as proof of residency. This is the case in NYS, we waited until Yu got her green-card before even bothering with visiting the DMV. SSN is one requirement, the other was I-94 valid 1 year or more, green-card OR EAD. Since K-1 get an I-94 that is valid only 90 days, it could not be used. K-3 can use I-94, but since they cannot get SSN until EAD, they too have to wait for EAD or Green-card.
