Green Card Interview

If I didn't say Congratulations!! then now is the appropriate time!

 

CONGRATULATIONS!! AND may you be blessed with more memorable occasions in your future together!!

This calls for it's own post so many ppl can be aware and the questions are very helpful in case others have a interview in the future!

 

Lulu and I passed the green card interview without an incident this morning. We arrived the immigration office 10 minutes before the scheduled time and the nice IO actually called us in RIGHT ON TIME .

After he swore me and my friend (the translator) in. He ask me friend to translate to Lulu. Lulu answered "I Do" before my friend saying a word.

"So you understand English." IO said.

"I can speak a little English" Lulu said. Her English is better then she think.

"can I see the Ids and passports?" IO said.

We gave him the EAD card, drive licenses, passports. He gave us everything back but the EAD card.

"Can I see your 2007 tax return?" IO said.

I gave that to him.

"So you both filed together in 2007." IO said.

"Yes we did. Lulu entered US in Dec. and we were hoping she can get the $600.00 check that our president promised." I answered.

IO start to laugh and he flip though our wedding and banquet albums. There are about 200 pictures in there and he actually go through every single one.

"I like your pictures a lot. Can I keep these few pictures?" IO said. We gave him the 7 pictures he asked for.

"Do you have any joint account, utility bills show both your names, insurance...?" IO asked.

We gave those to him.

He ask few questions after that.

"Do you have any children? What's their names?"

"What's your husband/wife's birthday?" I actually gave him the wrong answer on this one "Make sure you are not in trouble tonight." IO laughed and said.

"Did you ever commit any crime in US?"

"Did you ever enter US illegally?"

"Are you going to bomb US?"

Lulu answer "No"

He punched 2 holes on Lulu's EAD card and we were all staring while he did that and wondering why?

"You don't need this anymore. Your green card will be there withing 30 days. Here is your temp. green card. Welcome to USA."

That was it. The entire process took about 15 minutes and we actually had fun, all of us laugh though the process.
