USCIS changes how N-400 is processed

I'm not sure how this will affect processing but it seems that as of today the NBC will be processing the forms. You still send them to your service center, ie NSC, CSC, etc and you still go to your local field office for the interview. Supposedly it will speed up processing. Seems like it's just adding another stop along the way to me.

So let me see....

You send your application to your service center, just like before. They are going to send it to the NBC, in Missouri. They will do the initial processing, and will send it on to your local office. Having ALL apps going to one office, will speed things up. The only people who can actually believe that line, are already working for the government. All I see is a major bottleneck.

This is more like a whole hearted effort to ensure that the 14-16 month processing times for the N-400 are met or exceeded.
