We already have her SS Card.We married this past Sunday. Has anyone had this problem before?The problem may be Louisiana! Link to comment

Some states like Oregon only need SSN, but most other states require evidence of lawful presence, (EAD, or Green-card). NY requires SSN, and (Valid I-94 [that is valid for 1 year or longer], OR EAD, OR I-551 [stamp or Green-card]) Link to comment
yanjeff Posted May 27, 2008 Author Report Share Posted May 27, 2008 I just spoke to an Immigration attorney here in the state.She said we should only need SS Card, Passport with Valid Visa and I-94. And told me to try another DMV in a nearby city. Link to comment

"Non-immigrants must have 180 days left on their I-94 in order to be issued a license", according to www.dmv.org (La.) Link to comment

Don Posted May 27, 2008 Report Share Posted May 27, 2008 We had to wait till she had the EAD card. Than no problem. We waited till her I-94 was almost expired. We had married and even filed the AOS paper work, but they wanted the EAD card at that point. Link to comment
