I was a smoker my first four trips to Chinatucky and those big cities like Guangzhou were horrible...heck, I felt like Ihad to smoke to get some "CLEAN" air. Now that I stopped smokin' I would probably need a hazmat mask to walk around in Guango...er...ah...Guangzhou. Roggie, I've just sold the last of my houses, and big assets here in america, should be getting the check June 7th and heading back to the arms of my bona fide relationship lady in mid-June for a few weeks. We're pretty fed up and tired of the DOS bullshit and been forced into thnking "plan B" for months now. With the sale of this house it has perked us both up and made the thoughts of the phoney baloney DOS jerks in GUZ fade more away and the false sense of importance with a visa to america seem more like a joke than something that was all that meaningful. Let me ask you, or anyone else in the know....Are there any tax laws on selling houses in China? I.E., length of time of ownnership before selling, capital gains on your profit, etc.? Any restrictions? I plan on teaching, and my name wouldn't be on anything to do with the houses bought and sold, so there wouldn't be any "alien outsider" issues to be brought up, just an entrepreneurial lil' Chinabillie rabbit doing "her" thing with real estate. tsap seui Link to comment

Sorry wrong story... Awhile back there was supposed to be a new reg about selling houses in China that would have added an extra fee if you sold within 5 years...to try to keep "flipping" and subsequent price rises down...But in fact (this is CHINA after all) it seems to be locally enforced...Now some people take everything the GOVERNMENT says as a dirct commandment from the almighty and some say "what else is new?"...In Yunnan we were told WE COULD NOT SELL our place for the 5 years...In Hainan they said sure we can sell any time you want... Is that perfectly clear now??? As far as other taxes, fees, kickbacks, bribes, etc... I don't really know... B) Link to comment

When the wind is right we'll be able to sniff the roasting, toasting tobacco leaves from ASIA'S LARGEST CIGARETTE FACTORY... And although I do not smoke it is one delicious aroma... But I think, although we're on the same street, it won't happen much because we're several km away... Link to comment
