Need English Tutor

Recommended Posts

I live in the San Bernardino/Redlands area. I am trying to find a Chinese person who can help my wife with English. I have tried the local ESL classes, but that is not going to work. Does anyone know of someone who might help? Thanks

Thanks everyone. I will look into some of your suggestions. The local colleges around, in particular, California State Univ. San Bernardino have offered no help. I called 3 or 4 different offices there. I'll keep you updated on my progress. Thanks again.

Ron,

Wendy is using a DVD series called "Family Album, USA" and it seems to really be helping her.. It is a video series about a family in the U.S. and the people with whom they interact. There are 26 half-hour episodes and four student books that are meant to be used in a classroom setting. There are also two Viewer+s Guides which contain the scripts and are designed for independent study. This series originally aired on PBS and is now seen on educational channels in the

U.S. and overseas. Family Album, USA has aired in over 60 countries.

Thanks for the information everyone. I have found someone who will be of great help. I have made dozens of phone calls and finally called our local community college. I've called them before, but never got to speak to the right person. This time I did. I made connection with a Math student (older Chinese lady) who also speaks English. Ivy and I went to meet her yesterday. She is a very nice lady and Ivy liked her right away. She has agreed to come to our house and tutor Ivy. Just a little side note: Ivy took great pleasure in bargining the price. She got the lady to agree for less money than I was going to pay her. Don't worry, I'll make sure to reward her for her efforts. To me, she is a Godsend and came along at the right time.

Juette, good to hear from you. I hope things are going well. The Dvd's might work after Ivy gets a few lessons. I'll keep them in mind. :roller:
