i tried to apply the tourist visa for my wife before we got married.  it failed bad.  my wife told me they turned her down in 2 min and she felt she was just in there to pay them up.

i'm sorry to hear that.. Getting a US visa is really difficult. The visa officers always think that visa applicants have the desire and intention to migrate in the US . So the applicant have to convince the visa officer otherwise.. Not sure what are their basis of denial if they only interview the applicant for only 2 minutes.
