Just back from trip to China, the jet lag is not a big issue when we were in China, but it bothers us sooo much when we back, I have to stay in bed for over 20 hours the first couple days, and I still feel exhausted.

I am wondering is jet lag a big issue for you? I know there are persons who have no problem to readjust at all, but for me, the jet lag bothered me when I flew into Bangkok from Shanghai several years ago, the time difference is only 1 hour between the two cities.

I know staying awake is the best solution, but I just cant, be up for 30 mins and I am ready for bed again.

Takes me a week to catch up. Seems like 5 a.m. is bedtime.

It's been a while but I'm like you. Going to China is no problem because I don't sleep but getting back is difficult.

No real cure for jet lag that I know of...

I flew back from Hong Kong last Wednesday and jet lag kicked my ass for a couple days. Then again I took the opportunity being awake most of the night to chat with my SO.

Try the little blue pill.

Argentine researchers say Viagra helps jet lag.

So you'll be able to sleep but someone else will be "up" all night. :popeye:

Yea I seen that on the TV the other night... "LOL

My first thought was cool I can become a member of the

"Mile High Club" and have no jet lag.

Kill two birds with one pill

At the same time, because the test was only done in animals, Golombek urged restraint for people thinking of trying it out.

"This is a study in laboratory animals, and clinical trials should be undertaken before deciding whether Viagra is a useful and safe treatment for those situations," he said.

Sounds like we're gonna have to go it alone and conduct or own trials. I'd be willin' to wager we already have evidence of it, as seldom are there any posts of experiencing jet lag while visiting the SO in China. Jet lag seems to only occur after returning home. hmmm

jim_julian would the best expert on this topic as he's a high flying globe trotter with his job.

Yep, Jim has answered this question more than once. If I recall, the last thread on this topic came down to physical fitness. Seriously, it can be quite an ordeal and very stressfull on our 50+ year old bodies. Being physically fit can help overcome many obstacles, including jet lag recovery.

I hate to sound preachy, cause I could learn from my own sermon. :cheering:

Thanks a lot! I am still working on that, getting better though.

This morning I woke up at 4am and cant sleep again, having a headache now. Hopefully it will die down little by little.

Jet lag is stressful maybe I wont take another long flight for couple years.

Thanks again, some replies are really funny.

One more opinion ...

I subscribe to the "force yourself into the time zone" theory. When you arrive (on either end of your trip) eat and sleep in accordance with the time zone you are in. If you can't sleep at night intially then just stay in bed during normal sleep time, even if you are awake. Do NOT take naps. After 2-3 days, you'll be OK.

If you take naps and try to ease your way into the timezone you are likely to get into a terrible spiral of sleeping during the day and not being able to sleep at night. Then it can take weeks ...
