I lived in a small town in Sichuan for a year. Most of the people there didn't seem to know what cheese was. They thought it was frosting (chinese frosting, which is basically whipped cream).

Haha.. This is true. To most Chinese, they have no idea what cheese is. In Chinese cartoons, mice don't eat cheese; they eat rice.

Ying just happens to like cheese. She said she lived in Russia where she got to like it, especially the European cheeses. She does like some American cheeses, but not all.

Coming to America, on the final approach to Portland, my poor SO, in a combination of nerves, and choppy air had to reach for the air sickness bag, and nearly filled it up...

 

Several weeks later, while trying to acclimate her to western food, I offered her some Fetta and apple slices ---- she smelled the Fetta and said: "just like on the airplane..."
