totup
I have my wife's AOS application complete (with I485, I131, and I765). She arrived on Nov 20 and the I94 has a date of Feb 18 which must be the 90 day expiration date. Her son is arriving on Feb 24 so I've been waiting until he comes so I can mail the 2 applications in together. Is it ok to mail out both AOS's after the 90 day deadline for my wife (her son will not have the same problem since his deadline will be about May 24 or so)? I'm not sure what's worse ... mailing her appliction late -or- sending her's now and sending her son's later separately. Also, many of the forms ask for an A# in the upper right corner. This must be the Alien Registration number. Her I94 has a hand written 8 digit number in the back that starts with A#9... Is this the A# I need to put in the forms? I've read that 8 digit A numbers must be prepended with a zero. I've also read that you don't get the A number until you turn in the AOS application. So I'm not sure if this is the correct number or not. Also, in china she got her vaccination summary record from her medical entered on form DS-3025. The information is almost identical to form I693A that I'm supposed to send in with the AOS appliction. Can't I just send in that? Do I really have to find a civil surgeon to transfer the information from the form I have to form I693A? What a pain. This stuff is really getting to me . However, I do want to get everything right so there is no problems for her and her son. Link to comment
dnoblett
There is a 90 day deadline to marry, not to file the AOS, it is recommended to file it as soon as possible but many wait until after filing taxes for better financial data, as well as others having to wait for a marriage certificate in the case of a marriage happening close to the marriage deadline. As for the A# yes it should be on the I94, or on the I-129F receipt, or approval notice. You need to go to a civil surgeon to have the information transfered to the I-693A, you will jets get a request for evidence for it if you do not send it in. http://www.visajourney.com/gallery/albums/Immigration/I-129F-NOAs/NOA2.jpg Link to comment

A couple of more questions ... (1) Should I put this same A# in her son's application or will he have a different number (the NOA2 only has the one for my wife).(2) Form I-485 Part 3 asks for a Nonimmigrant Visa Number. I'm looking at the visa right now in her passport. There's a control number and also some number in red with no heading, and also a long number on the bottom of the passport starting with a G. Do you know where I find the correct number? Thanks. Link to comment
esun41
The son will have a completely different application and A#. From what I was told in Dallas, the A# for the children are assigned from the Chicago Lock Box location but that may not be. The non-immigrant visa (Ours was K-2) the number is in red down right hand side about 2/3rds down. No G in front of it. That's Chinese passport numbers that begin with G. Link to comment

Randy W
K-2's may not have an A number yet. You should get one on the AOS NOA1. Also, we have heard of people being assigned as many as 3 A numbers at various points in the process. If at all possible, propagate the same one wherever possible. Link to comment
