Temporary Work Authorization

Recommended Posts

My husband and I filed for a temporary work authorization at the same time as we filed his papers for AOS. Its been a few months and we have heard nothing about either. I know the green card will take a long time...but shouldn't we have gotten something about the temporary work authorization??....whats the point if it takes a year just to get that? Can anyone tell me how long it usually takes? My husband is going CRAZY out of boredom.

thank you.

It the EAD does not show within 90 days of the receipt of filing for EAD, then schedule an info pass appointment, and follow up. If it has been more than 90 days, they should give you temporary EAD at the USCIS office.

It's not clear if local offices are still issuing EADs.. please keep us updated on any resolution.

Here is another link, from the USCIS Press Room... that locally produced EADs stopped being issued on Sept.1 , 2006 and are being issued centrally instead.

From that same memo:

Interim EADs

The discontinuation of locally produced EACs will not prohibit customers from using InfoPass to schedule an appointment for an interim employment document when USCIS hasn¡¯t adjudicated the original Form I-765 within 90 days. Customers should take great care to attend all appointments, including biometrics appointments, and respond promptly to all requests for evidence sent from USCIS.

I think the interim EAD is simply a stamp in the passport.
