danswayne Posted March 21, 2003 Report Share Posted March 21, 2003 As a bunch of you should know I have been in China throughout this whole process so I have had to have family members call the correct agencies in the states. Well to make a long story short my grandmother told me by e-mail this morning that Diana's name had finally been taken off hold. I am not sure what that means, but it is giving us a feeling of hope, at least a little bit. On a side note when I called GZ this week and actually talked to an American lady she told me the name was not on hold at all, but in actuality there was a hit on the name. Not sure what the difference is, maybe it is because my wifes family name is one of the top 3 most popular names in China. Link to comment

If there was a hit, then it was technically on "hold" vs other folks with no hits.... until further research and cross-referencing and then they realized your sweetie was not Bin Laden sister in law after all,, and cleared that up. Li has one of the most common names in China and it contains only two characters. I guess we were really lucky on this front. I had a full beard and all my students over here say right off that the picture looks like Bin Laden. So 3 months in Europe growing a beard is what has been holding us up so long, I guess I shouldn't have been in France those 5 times. Link to comment

They have been changhing so much so fast even they don't know what is happening. I wouldn't be surprised at any new development that had no reasonable explanation.
