Nicole
Dear Mr. xxxxx: Assistant Secretary Maura Harty has asked us to respond to your e-mail ofMarch 9 requesting information about the fiancée visa application of xxxxxxWe last corresponded with you about this case on January 23. Your fiancée's case is currently pending completion of requiredsecurity-related vetting through an interagency clearance process. Changesto this process made in July 2002, together with communications problems, computer issues, and vastly increased work volumes, have had the effect ofdelaying many clearances. We are working with the relevant agencies to complete all clearancerequests. We are also working with technical experts here in Washington inan attempt to find new ways to expedite the clearance process. Unfortunately, your fiancée's clearance will not be processed as quickly asmost others are. A government agency has placed a hold on the process. Weare working with the other agency to resolve this issue so that we mayprocess the case to conclusion. However, we expect that a significantamount of time may be required to do so. When Ms. xxxxxxs clearance processis concluded, the Consulate will notify her. We hope this information is helpful. tonado
Nicole, Sorry to hear about your case being on hold. My advice is to find out why you are on hold (fax or call them). However, I don't know if they will tell you. Even though there have been some Visas lately, there is still a lot of black hole people who are still waiting. Stay positive. Link to comment
Greg&grey
My fiance called DOSlast week and was told still pending, but so far still haven't got any good news, I'm just afraid of being held too. Link to comment
Lurker
So much misinformation has come from these cut-and-paste letters. But I'm trying to remember--has anyone received their visa after receiving a note with the dreaded "Unfortunately..." paragraph at the bottom? Hang in there, Nicole! Link to comment
p4waiting
Nicole:If you believe you and your fiance good person, no afraid. Give them some more time to finish the check! WE have a saying: if you stand straight, no need to worry the shadow slanting. Link to comment
rfsun
Nicole, sorry to hear of your on-holed letter. I received the same letter a few weeks ago when we began talking about the on-hold dilema. My letter is exactly the same one you received. I am in the Hong Kong airport now. I just left my Angel at the Shenzhen border, so sad. She is certain she is the only one left and like you has nothing in her background. Yet no EMS... I will pm you her email address. Eric&Yuhui
Nicole.Try to find out the nature of the hold rather than the time frame.. They might tell you why, but probably won't know or will tell you a timeframe.Contact consular affairs rather than the DoS line for that.I am sorry to hear that since you interviewed only a day after us To All,..... Guest twilli3141
Nicole: Ask your fiancee to email all his congressmen, explaining the situation and asking them to check. They can talk to people at DOS who will not speak to the public. I did this and got results. Good Luck. Link to comment
Alyse
well, I got an email from the right same guy today. It is not a form letter, not mentioned about pending or on hold, but, " no developments in your case...". sigh Link to comment
