AP questions

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

Couple of questions on AP:

1) We would like to have the AP in case we need to travel outside of the country. So how should we fill out the "intended departure date" and "expected length of trip" fields if we don't have specific plans? And is it enough of an explanation to say that we want to take a vacation or see relatives?

2) The form still asks for a three quarters photo (form says revised Oct. 2005). Can I safely assume that it has changed like the rest of the photo requirements to passport type?

Thanks

1. I asked an immigration officer about this and was told that once we got the travel document, we could use it on any date. I would advise you to put a specific date and length on the application though, since that will make your application clear and specific, and therefore easier to approve. Similarly, I would cite a specific reason to travel (i.e., to see your wife's parents). Of course, our AP hasn't been approved yet, so take this with as much salt as you like.

2. I sent in the full-face photos.

We listed a specific travel date for a stay of 90 days. I did not give any explanation on the form nor did I attach a letter of explanation.

Some AP's arrive near or after your AOS interview date. If money is not much concern, apply. If money is tight and your wife won't mop slap you, don't ask for the AP.
