It's expensive by Chinese standards but has an excellent lobby with large fountains and streams and wood carvings and high end shops. The hotel would often receive packages that were addressed to the consulate and hold them temporarily as a courtesy.If you go to Shamian Island, which is pretty nice by itself, then you should definately check out the White Swan also!
