tonymasiello
I thought it might be worthwhile to collect in a single thread all of the cases on CFL where members' I-485 has been approved without an interview. Though it seems to be happening more frequently, many members seem unaware of or confused by the possibility. Please reply or PM me if you know of any cases I missed.*** member *** | *approved* | submit/noa | ** RFE *** | transf CSC | * local CIS * | thread ---------------|------------|------------|------------|------------|---------------|--------- frank1538. . . | 2005-04-14 | 2004-04-15 | ** none ** | *** no *** | Atlanta GA. . | 9853johns. . . . . | 2005-10-21 | 2005-04-12 | ** none ** | *** no *** | Newark NJ . . | 13550Gene . . . . . | 2005-11-01 | 2005-03-?? | ** none ** | *** no *** | Seattle WA. . | 13683Jeikun . . . . | 2005-11-08 | 2005-05-09 | ** none ** | *** no *** | Washington DC | 13887johnjez. . . . | 2005-11-22 | 2005-03-?? | ** none ** | *** no *** | Hartford CT . | 14564dalede . . . . | 2005-12-07 | 2005-05-?? | 2005-10-24 | 2005-08-?? | Charleston SC | CUCtonymasiello . | 2005-12-14 | 2005-04-02 | 2005-11-23 | 2005-10-20 | Boston MA . . | 14281mikem. . . . . | 2005-12-29 | 2004-10-21 | 2005-11-25 | 2005-10-01 | Atlanta GA. . | 14998n_c. . . . . . | 2006-01-12 | 2005-07-22 | 2005-12-28 | 2005-11-29 | ??? david_dawei
Great job Tony !! My thought is that maybe to include City/State so that others who live in that area can see if this trend continues. I know this would extend the idea, but it would also be good to have confirmed City/State where interview is occurring... Maybe that one could be simply City/State & date last interview and not by name ?? Then those near these locations would know to expect an interview... Link to comment
tonymasiello
Thanks David! I added in the Local CIS office (or my best guess at it) column. I don't know that CFL will have enough cases to really see any trends. This thread at visajourney.com is specific to cases that were transferred to CSC, but it has a much larger sampling and also lists local office. I'd suggest checking there for better idea of what local offices this occurs at. From what I understand, its the merits of the case that determine interview waivability, not the local office. Perhaps, offices with little or no backlog are not waiving interviews. Please post or PM me with any corrections of new additions! warpedbored
As an added reminder if you are filing AOS now it would probably be in your best interests to include everything they could possibly need in the packet you send them. For example the I-693 supplemental. even though it technically isn't required until the interview. Link to comment

Based on what was submitted in the initial I-485 packet?179819[/snapback]I suspect two factors are at play here. The first is backlogged cases are being re-directed, hence two (actually more if you count the K-2 AOS's) from Atlanta. Approving such cases without an interview helps reduce the backlog. But, I think Carl also has a point, that it, the case should be clearly approvable, so if all the required documentation is in at the onset, the chances of avoiding an interview seem to increase despite the fact that an RFE calling for updated documents, etc. has still resulted in a "no interview" AOS. Stats
This will be my favorite thread. Good luck to those who are successful. God know I wish I was. I would have been happy just to get a stamp at the interview. Best of luck. I "hear" they are trying to speed things up know. It's kind of ironic, I joined just as the post- 9/11 GZ black-hole was clearing up, only to get sucked into another. At any rate, congrats to all above. I am getting pissed though that all my wife's friends are getting stamps/cards 1 year after we applied. Ah well, our tax dollars at work.. Link to comment
