Yesterday we got the AOS application back in the mail, along with a rejection notice. I had gone by the old I-485 and didn't realize the fees had increased by $10 so I sent too little money. I got a new money order and re-sent everything back the same day. The thing that was weird was the EAD also came back as rejected, for the same reason. But the fee was correct. I just sent back the same money order as before.

 

I wonder if they have to reject both of them because the AOS application must be done at the same time as the EAD.

 

Anyways, this is a minor setback but it still sucks! So make sure you are looking at the most current forms!!

Don't feel too bad about that, Amber.

When I first sent my wife's I-485 package off, I mailed it the the Vermont Service Center!.....WROnG!!!

 

 

They sent it back with a rejection notice and the address where to mail it to. I thought that that was kind of them to give me the address!.....

 

And yeah, just a week or two lost. What does that really matter anyways?

My guess is that sending the EAD application back would be routine. Since you are probably filing the EAD simultaneously with the AOS (category ( c )9?) a return of the I-485 would automatically return the I-765.

Keep trying. Just like my COMCAST rebate, they rejected it because I had the wrong rebate form. So I call them and got the right form and try it again. Good luck.

You can't file EAD BEFORE filing AOS--thats why they sent it back--you can file after or at the same time! I did the same thing with the same results!

Well I feel glad I'm not the only one who got a rejection the first time around. Hopefully it will be all good news from here on!
