skibum
We went to Denver yesterday to finish the AOS requirements - give them 3 pictures and the old green card. She got a stamp in her passport that says she is here legally but now has no green card. If she wanted to leave the USA she would need another stamp to be able to get back in. New card should be here in a couple of weeks. The new appointment system appears to be helping. No crowds, no lines. We did have to wait 45min after our appointment time. The waiting room was less than half full. The govt did something good! Link to comment
cosmiclobster
Good to hear, Skibum!!!How long was your wait from sending in the I-485 to interview??? Link to comment
frank1538
Good news. Sounds like it's over but for checking the mail. One question though. Not that it should make any difference if the green card is due within a couple of weeks, but why doesn't the I-551 stamp allow her to travel freely? Link to comment
skibum
Frank, it does appear that the stamp is good for re-entry but there was a notice there somewhere that it is not good for travel. Since we have no plans to travel anyway, we did not push the issue. If we were going to travel, I would call and get a good answer. Lobster, I think we sent the form in at the end of Aug. and received the approval the end of Oct. There was no interview. Link to comment

tonado
Congrats. After passing the AOS interview, the VO stamped my wife's passport and he said she is able to travel out of the country. Anyway, your wife will receive the green card soon. Link to comment
