Robg8888
My girlfriend quit her job, and is living off of savings for now. I understand my employment and income requirements, but does SHE need to be employed during this K-1 process? How do they look at her if she is not working? Link to comment
david_dawei
I think this is a good question.. but my feeling is that it doesn't matter. They do not look at the SOs income at all. That being said, I have seen a few instances of the VO asking the SO what work she does. My own personal story: My SO stopped working about 8 months ago. How will I prepare her for any questions? If asked, she will say, she is taking english lesson and computer classes. She prepares for our life together.. The truth should prevail with any questions... Link to comment
tywy_99
It doesn't matter if she is working or not. What matters is that you, the petitioner, has adequate income to support her as so she doesn't become a public charge. This is one thing they really look at, I'm sure, among others. Link to comment

Carl
Mine was working as an English teacher until her son passed away, but working with children makes her feel to sad. Now she does English tutoring in her home. But so far her income has not been an issue, so I doubt it will come up in an interview. Link to comment
tonado
Not required. My wife didn't work prior to her K1 interview. Link to comment
frank1538
It doesn't make any difference. If it did, my wife would still be in China. Link to comment
ndjarrett
Not important. My wife was employed when we started. Then quit her job 1 year before we finally got our interview. Was not a problem. Link to comment
