She can call ahead at one of the clinics in GZ to set up an appointment. She can go to one of the banks to pay the visa fee first. She should have a list of instructions pertaining to all of this.

I think at the bank they will hand her some forms too. The DS-156 and maybe the DS-156K too but I'm not sure.

I posted these fees for the I-130 a couple of weeks ago, but since I paid the $380 US for each of my wife and daughter, for the IV prior to receiving the DS-230, will there still be sur-charge? This is first I have heard of that possibility!!

I'm not sure, Hank. I didn't get that far with the I-130. Alot of people get confused when they are K1 and see a fee listed like 2800RMB. I think that is listed on the DS-230 somewhere and I know the fee is more now.

But more fees to pay, I don't know. We need more people who have gotten the CR1 to post details. Details or first-hand experience with the immgrant visa is lacking here.

Ok, so what you are telling me is that in all, My So will need to take 900rmb & pay that to the Bank for her medical, & 830 RMB for the Visa office. Where does she pay that 830 to & when?

How does she get her medical all set up so that she can get it while she is ther in GUZ?

After that, will she need to come back to Nanning & wait for her Visa to arrive here, or can she wait there in GUZ? This is because if she gets her visa there in GUZ, I am leaving instructions for her to hop the next plane back here to the states & I will meet her hopefully at LAX to escort her back to NC. :P

Since there will probably be many people getting interviews that week... I'd call ahead... and get there EARLY.. ask if expediting is available in case they have many before you.

Some are reporting a visa pickup the next day.. some are saying two days. If she lives in the province, then it can be mailed to her home... otherwise she is expected to pick it up.

BTW: After getting approval in the interview, go immediately to pay the pickup fee.

K1/K3:

1. Pay the visa fee first (MUST PAY to get the interview. MUST BRING receipt to interview)

2. Pay for medical exam. (Hospital will put receipt in with paperwork)

If there are any fees at the morning checkin at the interview, will anyone comment...

Hank.. read it again.. the surcharge is a part of the $380.. it states that those who only paid $335 have to pay the surcharge..

Beginning March 8, 2005, IV applicants who have paid the current $335 IV application fee via National Visa Center, but not the new surcharge, must pay it (RMB 373.5 or $45) at post. IV applicants who haven't paid any application fee should pay a total amount of RMB 3,154 or $380, on the day of the interview. ?C Guangzhou Consulate Webpage

ok so let me get this clear...

pay the visa fee at the bank provided by GUZ?

(take that receipt to interview)?

pay the medical exam fee at the hospital?

(hospital will put that receipt in with the paperwork)?

after interview go "WHERE" to pay for the visa pickup fee?

then i am to assume keep BOTH receipt's (vise fee+pickup fee) to show proof of payment upon pickup?

reason i ask i thought i read somewhere on CFL that you pay the visa fee at some china post and pay the pickup fee at another location...is this right or not?

if a interview is at 8am, can you pay the visa fee the day before or sooner?

It is a little unclear if you can pay the visa fee after the medical exam.

At one time, I pieced together that it appeared one can pay it after, but others have said that the medical staff have asked for the receipt to put into the envelope.

I'm going to attempt to pay it after the medical, since I want to do the medical in BJ... or at least get them to tell me where to pay for the visa in BJ.

My SO talked to someone at the hospital and told her it was ok to pay after the medical.. what is unclear is if they 'meant', pay after the medical but we need to provide it to them at the medical pickup [so they can put it in the envelope]...

As a backup plan, we'll go to GUZ if I cannot get it to workout in BJ.

I think this is another good question for the American Citizen Hour...

I am curious if GZ will be changing the location of the China Post Office where you must pay the visa pick-up fee from Shamian Island to one closer to the New Visa Processing Center in the Tianhe District? I hope we can hear some experiences about the new center which opened today.

You can check where to pay the fee at the consulate website ... the total is $380, you're right, David... thanks

What fees are there for the CR-1 visa.  I already paid the $380 for the visa fee to the NVC, but what fees will we have in GZ?

144158[/snapback]

The only fee's you should have in GUZ is your SO's medical and shot fees, also the fee for the Biometrics $45 and I guess now there is the Visa Pickup fee. Your $380 you paid to the NVC during the CR1 process covers the Visa. So if your SO gets her P-4 and it says to pay the Visa fee at the bank or whatever don't worry about it. But it would be nice if she had a copy of your receipt page you get from the NVC of the Visa fee being paid, as a safety out just in case.
