ds0230 form question #14- 18

Recommended Posts

They bounced my SO's DS230 recently for leaving Questions 21a and 21b blank - better to be explicit.

What do I put in for 21a and 21b if i do not know I can escort my SO to the USA? I will of course try to get the time off from work but I cannot gaurantee this...

They refer to Q14 and Q19.. If those fields are NONE, then these two (21a , 21b) are also NONE.

If you pick the DS-230 apart word for word, you'll see that they have made it impossible to fill out correctly. This was the worst form of them all to fill out. It's not that difficult, unless you disect it like i did. I think that there is added stress in the form because in at least 5 different places in the instructions and forms they remind you. "don't screw it up. because if you do, there will be delays. ...and it's all your fault." poor instructructions and repeated threats. Somebody at NVC should rewrite the entire DS230 over again.

Question 14 says "Name of Spouse (Maiden or family name)" but me and my SO are not married so how can she put my my name in form if I am not her spouse yet?? should I put N/A???Also this is the same info I provided on the G-325f?

If you fill in the name of a Spouse, that would indicate that you ARE married - this is not desirable for CFL'ers.

This is NOT a trick question - the DS-230 is used for ALL immigrant visas.

This is not desireable for K-1'ers

K-3s, CR-1 and IR-1s are married and would fill it in as such.

Don't forget it is a mix here not all K-1's

Randy, It's ironic you should say that, because they ask the exact same question on the 325 form. my Lawyer left it blank, and we were married. that idiot...

if I only knew then, what I do now. that really doesn't matter anyway. what ever choice I make the results will never be in my favor. at the time I signed up for this wait, K3 from CSC was faster than K1. Then convieniently, "the backlog reduction act" went into play. It's backed me up and reduced me alright. just like they said.
