  1. Note that this thread is dated 2017, except for the Most Recent Posts Hello all I filed IR1 DCF for my husband on March 23rd. Turned in the DS260 the following week, and got an email last week that we could schedule the interview. The whole thing happened extremely fast, much faster than either of us were expecting! We scheduled his interview for May 25th, which makes the process for the whole thing just a bit over 3 months. My main question is regarding the trip to Guangzhou and the interview process. I keep seeing references on this site to "document intake date" etc., but am I correct in surmising that this was the old process, and now we do not need to schedule a separate appointment for document intake, that it will happen before his interview? How about paying the fees that need to be paid before the interview? Are those also paid just before the interview itself? He will go to Guangzhou and do his medical exam this week, which should give him enough time to get the results in time for the interview. Presuming the interview goes well and they ask for his passport, any idea currently how long it will take before he has a visa in his passport? I'm sure this has been asked loads of times already, so apologies in advance if I'm being redundant, and thanks for any clarity you all can provide!
  2. My wife will have her interview July 10. Will I be allowed inside the consulate? We will have her medical exam on July 3. So we should have everything ready. Thank you

  4. I will probably ask my Chinese girlfriend to marry me soon. She lives in Beijing, but got her MBA in the US and speaks excellent English. Neither of us want to live in China, and she can't legally come here to live until visa is approved, but we want to be together. Is it possible for us to get married, immediately apply for CR1 visa and travel the world for a while so we can be together. Then have the interview somewhere else in Canada, Israel or Europe, without having to return back to China, and move to the USA in 6-12 months when the visa is approved?
  5. I know Randy sort of answered the question before when I asked if we needed to bring all original documents we sent copies of to NVC to GUZ for my wife's daughter's interview, but do we need to supply my birth certificate? Last 3 years of tax returns (which I sent to NVC)? Proof of my employment? Our marriage license from USA? I need to be sure. If they go and don't have something because I said we didn't need it you know who's gonna pay! Thanks!
  6. My wife had a very simple interview where most of the things that she brought were not even looked at. Questions were: 1. How is your English? 2. Would you rather we use Mandarin? 3. How long have you and your husband been together? 4. Where did you and him meet? And then a "congrats you're visa is approved". My wife and I split to Hong Kong for a few days to celebrate and yesterday on the train back to Beijing her mother called her and said the envelope with her passport and stuff had arrived and that they'd be shipping it up to us to Beijing today. All in all a very anti-climatic ending to a process that was very nerve-wracking. Like someone here says, "everyone gets the visa. It's just a matter of how long it takes." I'd say that's about right. Follow the directions on the forms and you'll be just great. All told, from the day I petitioned via DCF in Beijing last September 15th, or so until the visa was approved in Guangzhou on January 18 was just about 4 months to the day. Much faster than I had anticipated. So that wraps up the immigration journey for my wife and I. This has been and continues to be a great forum for people like me who just a few months ago were pretty clueless about how to go about getting my wife a green card. Thanks everyone who helped out along the way!
