  1. Hello all. I've been living in Beijing for 14 months - first on an L (travel) visa and for the past 6 months on a F (business) visa. I have registered with my local PSB and have all my registration forms of temporary residence: http://www.google.com.hk/imgres?q=temporary+residence+permit+china&um=1&hl=en&safe=strict&sa=N&tbm=isch&tbnid=tS8Jd17XeVGa3M:&imgrefurl=http://www.visa100.org/Download.html&docid=q4z93wztLLt3BM&w=1859&h=1242&ei=Za5LTuaHOYWdmQXE8YGdCA&zoom=1&biw=1280&bih=636 I have been with my girlfriend, Jian Wen, for 10 months. We have discussed marriage and that is our plan, but we are not yet engaged/married or ready to fully take that next step at this time. I spent a fair amount of time on Candle in 2006/2007 when I was involved with a woman from Liaoning, which ended in a brief and very unfortunate marriage. I'm back on Candle now and beginning to re-familiarize myself with all the difference aspects of the visa process. For our situation, when the time comes, I think the DCF method will be the most logical and simple process, as is noted in this thread: http://candleforlove.com/forums/index.php?/topic/43253-just-starting/ However, as I mentioned above, I only have my registration forms of temporary residence. Would I be able to use these, as opposed to a residence permit, to go about the DCF process?? If not, what actually is a residence permit?? From what I understand, is it just the working visa that is put in your passport?? Thanks in advance for your help, and glad to be back on Candle! Dan from Beijing via Milwaukee
  2. hi all. where's the 1 stop definitive resource for required documents, income criteria and such for applying for resident visa in China? the consulate sights seem a bit vague.
  3. Does anyone now or have had any experiences with the F visa for students or business purposes? Next time I go to China to see my wife I am thinking about taking some classes. I want to make sure before I sign up that I can do everything that I could with the L visa. My major concern is not being able to obtain a temporary residents permit when i register with the police.
  4. Can someone please answer a few questions for me. 1. How hard is it to get a Chinese residence permit. 2. How long dose it take to get a Chinese residence permit. 3. Do I apply for a Chinese residence permit before I go to China or do I get it when I am there before we get married? 4. What else do I need to bring with me to China? Please any advise you all can offer will be helpful. Robert
  5. Dear USGuz representative, First, I want to thank you for giving of your time to answer our questions here. I have run into confusion about the residency requirements to file an I-130 in China. I have perused USCIS-Beijing's website and e-mailed them for clarification. I have the handouts and forms including the I-130 checklist. A petitioner must have a residence permit with an X(student visa) or Z (work)visa and must wait six months before filing. It is not clear whether the six months must be consecutive. If a petitioner returns to the U.S. to visit extended family for two weeks, does the six month period begin again upon his or her return. Does the six month period begin on the date that your residence permit is issued since it can take 2 to 3 weeks for the Public Security Burea to process a residence permit or is it the day that you entered China? These requirements changed recently. Thank you.
  6. Hi everyone, sorry if this has been asked before but I don't have much time to search at the moment. I've been in China with my wife for 7 months now, and we had just sent our packet (for CR1-) to the chicago lockbox a few weeks ago. Now I was actually wondering if it would be possible, and faster, if I just sent another packet to the consulate here in Shenyang instead? A few things though that I've been told. I was told that I absolutely need a permanant resident permit, and I as I understand, those are neigh-impossible to get ahold of... Like I said, I've been here for 7 months now, so I was wondering if that makes it easier to get the resident permit, or if I don't need one due to the length of time I've stayed here... Thanks!
  7. I am about to take a job that would have me work in China on an F visa. My wife and I are thinking about getting the DCF eventually. I have been reading on this forum that a Z visa is required for the petitioner, but has anyone done it on the F? It also sounds like the important component is the residence permit. If that is enough to show residency, can I get a residence permit while on the F visa?
  8. Hello All, I have been teaching in China since January 2001. I just returned from China in June of 2003. Both of our, my son and I, residence permit expires in September of 2003. I did not take my son to the US with me because he is better of with my wife until she gets her visa. Well, she has her interview on December 8th and I have bought their tickets for December 17th. Technically, my son overstayed his visa or residence permit. He was born in China, but he was declared a US citizen and has a US passport. Any idea how much the fine or fee would be for overstaying? I hope that we don't have to pay anything for it would be about three months overdue. Also, any idea of the chances of my wife being denied her K3 visa other then not having all the paperwork filled out or not being able to communicate with the interviewer? She just arrived in Guangzhou to pay her visa processing fee, get pictures taken and take a medical exam. Now she is just waiting for her interview to take place on December 8th. I am doing my very best to be positive for I took a risk buying her plane ticket before receiving her visa, but I was worried about the Christmas and Chinese New Year Holidays plus paying a penalty to change the ticket would still cost less than buying another ticket through a travel agency. Any comments or assistance would be greatly appreciated. Richard
