  1. Hi, I am very happy that you succeeded in getting your visa. YOu got jerked around at the end. Good luck and best wishes for the future. Padre
  2. Hi, Can you tell me which restaurant at the Marriot serves the donuts. They have about six restaurants. Thanks.
  3. Hi, After I registered with the police in Guangzhou, I had to pay a tax for the apartment that I rent. The tax is over 100 RMB per month. Most people in Guangzhou do not pay this tax because they do not report to the government that they are renting their house out. Our apartment owners are pissed at us for following the law. Does anyone else have to pay rental tax because they brought attention onto themselves by following the law and registering with the police. padre
  4. Hi Chilton, I took teflonline.com. It cost $325. You do not get any teacher observed training with most online courses where you get your own teaching style graded. The course is quick and they have videos of teachers teaching in the classroom. You have a tutor who can answer your questions and grades your assignments. Each tutor at least has a Master's. If you have time to do a course where you get observed teaching time, I would recommend it. What is the name of the company in Shenzhen that allows you to do get training in Beijing? Thanks. Padre
  5. Hi, I am filing DCF-130 for my wife with USCIS-Beijing. We got a call today asking to come in sometime with November for an interview for both my wife and I. I have to get some time off of work. Has anyone else gone for an interview with USCIS-Beijing? What was your experience? Our case took longer than others because we filed a K-1 previously but our petition expired. We filed in July 2007. Most people have already been approved for DCF China during the same time period.
  6. Has anyone doing DCF received their Notice of Action 1 yet/P-1 from USCIS-Beijing? Our case was received 07-10-07. Do they send the NoA1 by regular postal mail in China or by EMS? The FAQ say it can take 10-40 days for DCF. Thanks.
  7. Did you mail in your application? We did after speaking to the USCIS employee on the phone who told us that we could send in the application. The website does say that they do not allow any mailed in packages. People on 001 website have indicated that it helps to write weekly letters to USCIS/DOS and that it helps cases get processed more quickly.
  8. http://china.usembassy.gov/homeland_security.html (010) 8529-6740 (from within China) It may ask you to leave a message if you do not get a person. They have been good at returning phone calls until this last time. You will either speak to a Chinese man with a slight accent. Thanks. Good luck to you and your SO on your case.
  9. Hi, We mailed ours to Beijing-USCIS two weeks ago. We checked on it yesterday by calling them. They said that it was pending. They only have one officer to work on I-130's so it should be two or three months if approved and that they have a lot of cases to check. They took a long time to pull our case up when we called.
  10. Sounds scarey. My wife and I are in Guangzhou too. We have not had any difficulty with the elevator yet. I do worry on some of the noises I hear when it operates. We take the elevator all of the time because the stairs in the summer heat of Guangzhou are a killer plus my wife tells me taking the stairs in China is dangerous. Bad people will wait for someone on the stairs where not many Chinese people venture. The eighteenth floor is a long way up.
  11. I did not see anything reported about this within China. I checked CCTV website in English, China Daily, and People's Daily. I saw it on Yahoo.com.
  12. Dear USGuz representative, First, I want to thank you for giving of your time to answer our questions here. I have run into confusion about the residency requirements to file an I-130 in China. I have perused USCIS-Beijing's website and e-mailed them for clarification. I have the handouts and forms including the I-130 checklist. A petitioner must have a residence permit with an X(student visa) or Z (work)visa and must wait six months before filing. It is not clear whether the six months must be consecutive. If a petitioner returns to the U.S. to visit extended family for two weeks, does the six month period begin again upon his or her return. Does the six month period begin on the date that your residence permit is issued since it can take 2 to 3 weeks for the Public Security Burea to process a residence permit or is it the day that you entered China? These requirements changed recently. Thank you.
