  1. At the rate James is going, 5 blue thingies is around the corner..
  2. Very funny (by the way this is 4 blue thingie message )
  3. From reading the regulations, that my wife and got with the I-130 packet, it says that you can't apply to remove the 2 year condition until 3 months befores before it expires, I wonder if you're friend applied to early and that's why it's in a little mess right now?
  4. It's funny my wife and I went to the local bookstore here in Shanghai to purchase some flash cards, I took them with me to work in Shenzhen and all the people there thought it was very cute, it's normally for kindergarden, etc., but I know it would bring a smile to everyone's face so I brought them
  5. Remember, it's the government, they have to have seperate everything for security, so just like if you look carefully on top of their computers in the office, some are labelled "Non classified data only", etc. So I bet the webmaster has to go through a whole different group of people to get anything changed.
  6. Here's another good one: http://home.pacbell.net/diana_do/knowjack.htm
  7. Doh, see what happens when you are too active That's an incredible amount of message though, I didn't think anyone posted that much.
  8. You should set up some sort of policy and post it on the front page that talks about when you will do these backups? Hate to see people complain that they couldn't get to the site for the first time when it was coincidentally down for backup
  9. My wife and I (we're living Shanghai) are in the middle of getting the IR-1 visa, we're going to be in Shenzhen sometime during the February/March time frame. Going to Guangzhou from Shenzhen is a snap, so we're hoping to schedule our interview/visa pickup around this time, should give our government and Guangzhou plenty to finish up their end Worse case senerio if you guys still don't have your passports and it can be arranged, we'll be happy to help.
  10. I know a little Chinese but am learning, what can you say, I'm an ABC (American Born Chinese).
  11. Just read in the CUC, that someone had an interview today, but didn't get their visa, but she saw others who had been waiting a long time get their visas, so there's some sort of movement.
  12. Maybe we should add a forum that deals with the Chinese language?
  13. I'm jealous, everyone's got 4 blue thingies, I'll just have to keep finding things to respond to
  14. I have a faith in our government system, I bet they were working over the weekend, at least some people got responses to their E-Mails over the weekend. In the past I've also gotten responses over the weekend as well.
  15. They probably start around 9 AM local time, so we've got anopther 17 minutes or so before the onslaught starts.
  16. Wow, thanks for your efforts, it's one thing to pop in a cd and type setup, it's another thing to custom write code.
  17. I guess the editor we use to enter in messages is quite simple and easy to use, add too many options and maybe we'll never be able to figure out how to post again
  18. It's hard to say whether America is really that much better. When my wife and I have travelled around, she didn't find the US to be anything special. Basically Shanghai she has everything, and little old Newark Delaware isn't as big as Shanghai (not by about 14.9 million people). When we went to Sydney Austrialia, she was most impressed by that type of Western culture, we'll just have to see.
  19. Good, I'm glad that someone saw a news story about it, living in China, my only access to the press is basically through the Internet (and that's the parts I can get to )
  20. When we were in the US a couple months ago, I was scared that my wife wouldn't like the food there. When we went to our friends (who had just immigranted from Germany), she thought that was the best "western" food she's eaten. When we told them, they though, that's strange, we didn't cook any "western" food, just German food. I told them that "western" is all point of reference, since she is from China, Germany is to the west of her, they thought that was very funny.
  21. I'm a litte lost, are you waiting for your fiancee's passport from EMS? You left it an Guangzhou? or did you ship it back to Guangzhou already and now waiting for it to be returned?
  22. Only time will tell. I think for this to continue on we need to get more people involved, maybe even do some sort of consolidation of groups, we basically all live busy lives and once things are settled, everyone has different priorities. I used to be a lot more active before my wife got her K-3 visa, but after a while trying to answer the same questions over and over again get's a little tiring, that's why we're always saying look back at the archives, none of the information has changed, just not been talked about recently, etc. I'll do my best, but can't gaurentee anything unfortunately.
  23. Yes, very brave, I'm sometimes intimated when they want me to eat seafood caught from that water, let alone to swim in it :-)
  24. I think we all know what the meaning of the message was, it's just too bad that you never know what those reporters are going to fill into the gaps around the main idea. It's happen to me before where you get quoted on a positive thing, but they put you in the middle of some other stuff going on, and then part of the meaning gets lost.
