  1. Great thread and good timing for us... thank you. We just arrived home 12/17... applied for marriage license on the way home from airport... married yesterday... now in the "what's next step". In regards to the note about waiting until USICS updates their database - any advice on how to know when this has occurred? Since we married yesterday, our next steps were the SSN (in maiden name as recommended above - married name change later) application and I-485. Thanks again, David
  2. She is coming home with me - yeah! Going back to her home town of Nanning for a few days with family... pack then home to Seattle via Hong Kong and San Francisco. We'll be getting married before the holidays - couldn't be better!!! Happy Holiday's to you and your SO and good luck!
  3. In answer to a few questions: / Yes, I work in Aerospace, but no longer with the OBVIOUS giant in Seattle. I've been working with small consulting, engineering and certification companies for quite a few years now. We had large contract with a major airline in the Asian market this year. Seven of my trips were business. On each of these, my SO (who happens to be a travel agent) joined me on location, then we usually took a week after the work was over to tour China... what a great year! / Only 6 posts to CFL - hehe - actually, my SO is a long time 001 member (she has 677 posts there - is that enough?) and is the real reason behind our success yesterday. I'm very proud of her. She did a tremendous amount of research and her guidance turned out to be almost all true. / I still don't know what the question was really about regarding too many trips to China. I tried to get an understanding but the response was vague and left me thinking they might be fishing that data was too unreasonable to believe. I think if you have the supporting documentation to show legitimate visits... how could this ever be a negative? In the end, my SO was not really questioned on these facts as I was warned she might be. Good luck to all, David
  4. Yeah! Pink yesterday for my SO! 9 trips to China... so much preparation... many months of waiting... 7.5 lbs pounds of data... wearing out the stamp of my notary... attending the citizen meeting here in GUZ yesterday... then... Almost anti-climactic in the end. First - at the citizen meeting, I really just wanted to ask for simple advice and have a note in the file that I'd been there. My simple question - with 9 trips to China, and spending 88 days with my fiance over the course of the past year we have a very large amount of supporting documentation - what advice can you give as to which data is very important and which data may be too much? I was a bit suprised at the response... he said that your SO had better have a good explanation of why you've been here so many times... most don't come nearly so many times. Hmmmm, never thought this would be the angle... you'd think the more the better... adding to a legitimate relationship and all. Guess I'll never understand some of the thinking behind the process. Then, for my SO's interview there were very few questions: / What is your fiance's job? / What is the name of his company? / Where did you learn English? / Can I see tax returns (had 3 years, but he kept only 2006 transcripts)? / Can I see two photo albums (we had one for each of our many meetings together in China)? Then.... PINK Then... after returning documents he asked an amusing question... (with a big smile) "How did you get in the newspaper?" We'd inadvertantly had our photo published in the Nanning Newspaper while getting professional engagement photos taken. This was part of our photo evidence. Anyway, so glad to finally be here! Thanks for all the advice.
  5. We never had "touches" either. With P4 interview next week - 11 Dec, the USCIS web site still shows "Case Received and Pending" for status. The lack of "touches" left us frustrated for months (count 'em 5) between P2 and P3 as we were constantly told by DOS that our package was "stuck in China customs". Best Wishes, David
  6. Black and while copies are allowed and can be notorized. However, you are not supposed to even make copies in color of government issued ID's... too easy to counterfeit... just like money (which we are also not allowed to make color copies of).
