  1. CONGRATS!!  Must be some kind of planetary alignment.  We just got the same letter.  You'd think we were in China....

I'm happy for you two, natrigon! Besides getting the visa, there's no better feeling than to get that letter and green card.

In fact, I came home from work today to see my wife smiling from ear to ear. She got her greencard in the mail today!!...WoW!, that was fast! Our AOS appointment was Tuesday, the letter came in the mail on Saturday, and my wife's green card came today! Good for 10 years and it's a cool looking card too with the holographic designs on it and all! My wife is set!..........

That must mean your's is coming soon too!

Great!! She just got her green card as well. But our interview was way back on January 18th and it's good for only two years. I wonder why.

Also anybody know why the K-2 daughter has been ignored, no letter, no card.

  2. No, being born in China does not indicate an affiliation with the communist party any more than it indicates you are a kung fu expert. I've heard that checking the box 'are you or have ever been a member..." is the kiss of death.

Yes, they want many of the same things for I-485-same as they wanted many of the same things for the interview that they wanted for the I-129f. It comes from the Department of redundancy department. I'm pretty sure a new police cert was not one of the things they wanted.

Great post and I have a funny story...

We were at the AOS interview and the lady (she was very nice) was firing off the questions "have you ever..." I was translating most of them to my wife because of the verbage and the lady asked about "prositiution etc."

So I asked my wife if she ever made love for money and she replied...

    " Yes, sure"

It was funny and we all had a good laugh!

  3. Glad the docs were replaced so quick. Chongquing train station also has roving thugs. Get this... the thugs push weak people to "the front" of the line. Then make them buy a ticket (maybe the wrong place) and they keep some of the money. The police are right there and look away.

They tagged me and were comming at me and I gave them the look, thanks to Bruce Lee they walked away. I was kinding hoping for a fight after seeing them box around some weak folks. Bastards.

  4. Hey all,

Just a LA update. We had our AOS interview for K-1 with daughter (K-2) and it was real smooth. Until the imigration officer said..

"Well as far as I am concerned you passed but now they are doing an additional namecheck/clearance. If you don;t hear something within 90 days call this office and let me know."

Then she issued some paper extension for them.

Ok just thought I would pass that on. Never heard about that before but I have not been comming around so much. Moved 2,000 miles, my wife and daughter moved to USA and started my own company.

    Wish you all well.

  5. The NOA2 is required to be sent in with the I-485. If you can't locate it, you will need to file a form to get a replacement and pay $195.

Our NOA2 was taken at the airport with many other papers that should not have been taken. While I was waiting outside of customs they took all Mei's papers, the packet we wanted to give them and the back up copies and originals. When my wife said those papers are not for you the guy asked her "do you want to go back to China"?

Of course she said no and gave them to him. I could not get in after or talk to anyone. When we filed we wrote the story, signed it and notorized it. We have been scheduled our interview is on Jan 18th. So I guess we will see what happens.

  6. I love this forum !!

Got my answers and some lively debate (which I happen to like).

THanks for the answers on the aos interview. Now I feel like we can prepare better. My wifes english is less than perfect but so is mine!! I will brief her on what they may ask and I may need to rephrase their questions in english (or a little mandarin) she understands. But then she will be able to answer in english.

As for the timelines, I think some are to long BUT when I was in limbo a few times I sure did appreciate getting a detailed sense of what/when other people did or did not get. The one thing that bothers me is when the they are different colors, different fonts, etc. So anyways my feeling is too much is better than nothing.

Either way thanks for the responses!

  7. Hi all and happy holidays!!!!!!!

I am now in my rest time after one busy season, so I am enjoying some idle time back at CFL. Still see more of the same great help and thought I could request some more for us.

Just wondering what happens at the AOS interview? What are they looking for and for not?

OK any help is always appreciated and again happy holidays.

  8. lol... yeah the "Mao's revenge diet" :P

On a serious note though.  I will repeat myself.  I may even make a seperate thread about it, I feel so strongly about it.  ANYONE going to China.... GET THE HEPATITIS SHOTS.  It's just not worth the risk.  Especially when the prevention is such a simple thing.

I've been over 5 times now. Brushed with tap, drank bottled or coke (NOT PEPSI) never got sick. We stayed in middle class Shenzhen hotels and family's apt in Sichuan, Dazhou. Ate street vendors food if Mei said it was OK.

    But here is the secret....

In Sichuan eat the very spicy food, no bacteria can survive, LOL. Wow is some of that stuff hot. Definately agree on the HEP A&B shots. The whole HEP series takes 6 months, 3 doses so start now.

  9. The I-131 is the application used for AP (Advance Parole). If you somehow got AP without filing the I-131, please let us all know how you did it.

The I-130 (Petition of Alien Relative) is not needed for a K-1/K-2 filing for Adustment of Status (AOS).

    Frank,

I just made them an offer they couldn't refuse --00--

    But really...

I have been very busy (and dislexic) so sometimes mix up the numbers etc. The I-131 must have been the 3rd main form I filed out. Just could not remember.

    Thanks

  10. Can't remember all the numbers and letter of the forms right now and had a question.

    We are a married K-1 with a 17.5 year old K-2 daughter.

We filed the AoS, AP, EAD. Got the AP, and EAD.

Can't remember about the I-130, is that a seperate form independant of the AoS or is it the same or is it _______?

Is the I-130 or I-131 an extra filing needed in our situation?

Man I am getting old, hehe.

    Louis
