  1. Ours was a breeze also, keep the line moving fellas! Congratulations
  2. (hope I'm continuing this correctly)-- -What is his job?Where does he work? Special education teacher in NYC. -What was your major in school? English for Business -Do you have any pictures? Yes many. We had about 200 or so from all 3 trips in plasic holders 2 on each side with labels. She said he looked at each one individually. He also looked at the copies I made of my passport stamps with each arrival and departure from for each of the 3 trips labeled. Then he said 'Congratulation you can go to the US'! I hope this little boring narrative helps someone, I have read 'Candle.." religiously everyday since Jiali and I started this process and it has given me so much help and insight and laughs . Thank you all for being there/here
  3. So we got in line for the document hand-in about an hour early (line to the left for K-1) which is good because it kept us in the shady part most of the time. Got upstairs to the 4th floor and I waited in the coffee shop,(they also sell Heineken) had time for about 5 cans and my SO came out telling me that I needed my 2008 tax return. Somehow I missed it and brought '10 '09 and '07. So we went back to the White Swan and I made a frantic phone call to my accountant. Not to worry he emailed it to me and we printed it out, showed up the next morning at 6am . The line was already forming, again stay to the left, except this time at around 7:15 they say in Chinese only those who received a round green stamp on their appointment paper yesterday move further left and all those people got in ahead of us. I believe it was because of the missing tax return but no big deal we got in 15 minutes later. She waited about 3 hours and went to the window to speak to a very friendly CO. -How did you meet your fiancee? QQ -Are you CCP? No -Did you know he is divorced? Yes, here is the divorce certificate. (He didn't look at it) -How many times has he come to China? 4 times , he is here now. She handed him my passport, which he took.
  4. Does anyone know if you can pickup the visa at Guz instead of having them mail it to her house? We will be staying in Gz and be leaving from Hong Kong to go back to the states as soon as we have the visa in hand. I have to get back to work before they fire me. By the way does anyone else think its a good idea to fly in and out of Hong Kong to get to GZ? You can go nonstop and it seems a little cheaper. The high speed train between HK and Gz is only about an hour and a half.
  5. We will be interviewing on June 21 so hope to see a familiar face.
  6. Our interview (document hand-in) is scheduled for June 20. She received a form which states that she is free to marry and intends to marry _______________ .... It also has what looks like a place for a notary to fill in. Does anyone have any knowledge of this form and when it is supposed to be filled out? Does the consular officer sign it? Well, I'll be flying to Gz on the 16th to support my SO and bring over a bunch of documents and supporting evidence. Everything has moved so quickly and painlessly so far , I'm hoping the interveiw will go the same way. 11/17/10 P-1 4/29/11 P-2 5/19/11 P-3 6/5/11 P-4 6/20/11 Document hand -in Wish us luck
  7. OK I know I am 'stoopid', but why is sending her and her a family money a 'red flag' ? I would think it shows a commitment on my part. If it was a 'setup' marriage wouldn't she and her family pay me money to get her over here? By the way I send a considerable amount of money to her mother. Should I not show that bank statemen t?
  8. do you mind if i ask how you check if GUZ registered the P3 packet with the DOS?
  9. I thought that K-1's were not transmitted electronically or if they were that we would still have to wait for GUZ to receive the hard copy. Is this the start of something new? It seems so fast. Does this mean we could expect the interview to be at the end of June?
  10. OK AM I MISSIN' SUMTHIN? MY SO JUST CALLED ME SAYIN' SHE RECEIVED A CALLED FROM GUZ THIS MORNING CONFIRMING HER ADDRESS AND SAYING THEY WILL SEND HER THE PACKET FOR OUR K-1 TO HER BT EMS. IT WILL ARRIVE IN 2 DAYS. FROM WHAT I HAVE BEEN READING THIS WAS SUPPOSED TO TAKE PLACE IN A COUPLE OF MONTHS. I HAVE BEEN CALLING NVC TO SEE IF THEY RECEIVED MY APPROVED APPLICATION AND THEY SAY NO. WHATS GOIN ON HERE? I'M SO EXCITED BUT AMAZED AT THE SAME TIME. IS THIS UNUSUALLY FAST? I'M FLABBERGASTE D
  11. Congratulations and enjoy your new life!!!!
  12. Thank you all for your insightful comments and suggestions.'Knl' I will definitely discuss your ideas about the interview with Jia. As to why we are doing a K-1 instead of a CR-1, well, I originally decided on K-1 because I remember reading here that it was somewhat quicker. So now I have another question for you all. Would it be worthwhile switching gears now and applying for a CR-1? (We just received the NOA-2) How much time would it add to the process? Would I have to resend everything? Plus we haven't planned the wedding yet! SHE WANTS A BIG ONE IN CHINA! Thank you all again for sharing your experiences and for your encouragement.
  13. We are doing a K1. I will definitely be there for her interview, so this will make the fourth trip. As I mentioned before her family has accepted me and is looking forward to our marriage. They even let us sleep together in her room which surprised me and her. i don't feel like an old fart.
  14. I have been a lurker here since November 17 2010 which is the date of our NOA-1 ,I received a text message and email that our visa was approved on April 29 2011. I feel like I have gotten to know you all fairly well since I check in everyday and read the new posts. I see that for the most part you you give thoughtful , intelligent answers so here goes my question. How much does age difference affect GUZ' decision making? Before you answer please take a look at our Gallery pictures and tell me honestly what you think.By way of a little background, I have visited 3 times beginning in August 2010, stayed at her parents house twice, her parents love me. We are engaged (diamond ring) .I love her very much and she loves me. We have traveled to Guilin and Hong Kong together so many pictures , tons with all the family members and neighbors too. So I guess my question is, am I too old? I am afraid to tell you how big the difference is. Take a look at our pics first please and then let me know what you think. (I tried to place pics here but couldn't figure out how, sorry) I will give you my real age in the next post.. I know, stoopid right? Thankyou in advance
  15. My fiancee Jiali and I opened a joint account in Guang Zhou last month, also at ICBC Bank. We recieved a bank book with only her name on it and each of us received a debit card for the account. I'm not sure how useful it will be for visa purposes but I do have one page with both our names and signatures on it that I will have translated.
